The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, admits students to its extensive portfolio of programs by National level examination or Institute-level examination scores. Renowned for its high academic standards and excellence, IISc has a clearly defined, fair admission process for each program it conducts.
Admission Process for Various Programs
Undergraduate Admissions
- Candidates of BSc (Research) programme are required to qualify with JEE Main, KVPY, NEET UG or JEE Advanced marks.
- The JEE Advanced marks only are considered for BTech in Mathematics and Computing at IISc.
Postgraduate Admissions
- MTech Admissions: Selection is based on GATE scores, followed by COAP counseling.
- MDes Admissions: Candidates must qualify through GATE or CEED.
- MBA Admissions: Candidates are shortlisted based on their GATE, CAT, or GMAT scores.
Doctoral Admissions
- PhD Programs: Candidates are required to possess valid GATE or NET (JRF) scores.
- Integrated PhD Programs: Admission is based on JAM scores.
How to Apply?
Registration:
Begin by visiting the IISc registration portal and creating a user account with your email ID and a password. After registration form is submitted, please verify your validity by following the link sent to your inbox.

Please log in to your profile and complete all of the fields (Personal Information, Qualification, Department Preferences) for your profile. Save Proceed" button after completion of each stage).

Before submitting, preview your application to check for errors. Use the ‘EDIT’ option to correct any mistakes. Repeat this step until all details are accurate.
Final Submission: Final Submission:
Upon completion, validate the application by ticking "CONFIRM TO SUBMIT".Download the PDF version of the application form,print it then save it for future use.
Application Fee
The application fee varies depending on the category and program:
- BSc (Research) and BTech in Mathematics and Computing:
- General/OBC/KM: INR 500
- SC/ST/PWD: INR 250
- MTech, MDes, MMgt, and MSc:
- General/OBC/KM: INR 800
- SC/ST/PwD: INR 200
