The Gandhi Institute of Technology & Management, which was previously known as GITAM University Visakhapatnam or Geetham University and GITAM College of Engineering, Visakhapatnam commenced its establishment in the academic year of 1980 with the help of efforts put in by an eminent group of intellectuals. The institute has been given the status of ‘Deemed to be University’ in the year of 2007. There are three campuses to the GITAM University located in Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, and Bangalore. The institute has been recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an "A" grade. The primary objective of the institute is to impart quality and comprehensive education in the filed of Engineering, Architecture, Law, Pharmacy, Nursing, etc.
The infrastructure of the institute is spread over and area of 255 acres of land with all the basic amenities provided to its students. These facilities include classrooms, boys’ and girls’ hostels, library, cafeteria, auditorium, seminar halls, and lecture halls. The campus consists of three cafeterias, fast food outlets, outdoor ground, indoor games facilities such as Badminton and Table Tennis, and a gymnasium. The campuses house different schools such as Institute of Technology, Institute of Science, Institute of Management, International Business, Pharmacy, Nursing, Medical Science and Research, and Law.
