The Central University of Kerala (CUK) is one of the 15 new Central Universities established by the Government of India. It offers a wide array of UG, PG, Doctoral, and PG Diploma courses in various disciplines like Science, Commerce, Management, Arts, Education, Tourism, and Law. Kerala Central University hopes to make special provisions for integrated courses in humanities, social sciences, science, and technology in its academic programs. They hope to take appropriate measures to promote innovations in the teaching-learning process and interdisciplinary studies and research. Admission for the UG and the PG programs is based on the candidate's CUET scores as well as the criteria listed by the university. Applicants must ensure that they register for the CUET examination as well because without a valid CUET score admission will not be possible.

B.A. International RelationsCandidates must have at least 50% marks or equivalent in Plus Two from a recognized Board (studied in the 10+2 system). Up to 5% relaxation in the minimum requirement of marks is granted to SC/ST candidates. The candidates should not have completed 19 years of age as of 01.07.2021.
M.A.EconomicsCandidates with a Bachelor’s Degree (studied in 10+2+3 system) in any discipline with not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate from a recognized University. Up to 5% relaxation in the minimum requirement of marks is granted to SC/ST candidates. The candidates should not have completed 25 years of age as of 01.07.2021.
M.Ed.EducationCandidates with a Bachelor’s Degree (studied in 10+2+3 system) in any discipline with a minimum 50% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate from a recognized University. Up to 5% relaxation in the minimum requirement of marks is granted to SC/ST candidates. The candidates should not have completed 25 years of age as of 01.07.2021.
M.Sc.Computer ScienceCandidates with BCA or B.Sc (Computer Science/Electronics/Communications/ IT/Bioinformatics) or B.Tech/BE (Computer Science/Electronics/Communications/IT/electrical/ECE) or B.Sc. in Physics/ Mathematics/Statistics (with Computer Science as a subject or having a Certificate/Diploma in computer-related areas) or B.Voc (computer science/IT/electronics/electrical/ECE) or equivalent with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate in the qualifying examination from a recognized University (studied in 10+2+3 system). Up to 5% relaxation in the minimum requirement of marks is granted to SC/ST candidates. The candidates should not have completed 25 years of age as of 01.07.2021.
LLMLawAll candidates have a three-year/five-year regular L.L.B. 40 Degree from a recognized University (studied in 10+2+3+3/ 10+2+5 system) with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade point in the aggregate. Up to 5%relaxation in the minimum requirement of marks is granted to SC/ST candidates. No upper age limit.
MBAManagementCandidates with a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate from a recognized University. The up to 5% relaxation in minimum requirement of marks is granted to SC/ST candidates. The admission will be based on (a) 80% marks scored in CUET (b) Group Discussion (c) interview (weightage of 10% each totaling 20%) for standardization, the mean score of the current year entrance examination would be considered. No upper age limit.

Central University of Kerala (CUK) Placements

The Central University of Kerala was established to improve education, research, and learning across a variety of knowledge fields. The Central Placement Cell (CPC), works in coordination with the Department of Placement Cells (DPC). The Cell coordinates all activities related to training in developing career skills and soft skills to ready students for placement. It facilitates campus placement activities and invites firms to recruit from the campus talent pool. It conducts programs for students toward their employability.

The official placement report has not yet been released by Central Univeristy Kerala. However, the NIRF Report 2023 is available on the official website. The Central University of Kerala (CUK) offers a variety of scholarships to their UG and PG students. The scholarships provided are mentioned below.

  1. National Scholarships Portal: It is a one-stop solution through which various scholarships offered by Central/State schemes and UGC /AICTE are enabled. It is a Mission Mode Project under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP). It offers scholarships like
  • Post Matric Scholarships Scheme for Minorities.
  • Financial Support to the students of NER for higher professional courses.
  • PG Indira Gandhi scholarship for single girl child.
  • PG scholarship for university rank holders (1st and 2nd rank holders).
  • Scholarship Scheme for SC/ST students to pursue professional courses.
  1.  E-Grants for Fisherman's Children: Fisheries e-grants are web-based solutions for the timely disbursement of educational assistance to all post-matric fishermen’s children. It provides provisions for making online applications, processing, and sanctioning educational assistance.
  1.  Directorate of Collegiate Education (Govt. of Kerala): It offers various scholarships that can be applied through the portal. The scholarships  are: 
  • C.H Mohammed Koya Scholarships: Students should belong to a Muslim, Latin, or Converted Christian community, and should be a native of Kerala. Should be a female student. The income limit is INR 4.5 LPA. Eligible students will receive a scholarship amount of INR 6000 for PG Students per year, and a hostel stipend of INR 13,000/ year.
  • Hindi Scholarship: Candidates who have taken Hindi as a sub-subject at the Degree level and as a main subject in B.Ed/M.Ed/M.A/M.Phil/Ph. D. are eligible for the Hindi Scholarship. The scholarship amount is INR 1000/ month.
  • State Merit Scholarship: Candidates should be first-year students of UG and PG programs in Govt. Aided colleges or universities Departments. The scholarship amount is INR 1500 per annum.
  • Suvarna Jubilee Merit Scholarship: Candidates should be first-year students of the UG or PG program, and should belong to the BPL family. The scholarship amount is INR 10,000 per annum.
  • Blind/PH/Deaf Scholarships: It is available for Blind/PH/Deaf students only. It exempts fee charges for Blind students with a family annual income below INR 2.5 LPA. For PH students exemption from hostel fee whose family income is below INR 4.5 LPA. 
  1. Vidyasamunnathi Scholarship of Kerala State Welfare Corporation for Forward Communities Limited (KSWCFC) Communities Limited             (KSWCFC): The UG and PG students of the economically backward will get educational scholarships for their studies. Students whose family income is INR 2 LPA or below are eligible for a scholarship amounting to INR 10,000 per annum.

The Central University of Kerala offers a wide selection of facilities to its students. The facilities that are provided are as follows:

  • Central Library: The Central University of Kerala has a Central Library that is home to the largest collection of learning resources on Arts, Humanities, Science, and Social Sciences. It provides more than 60000 books, 1300 E-Books, 17000 E-Journals, and around 600 Braile Collections for its students. The Library supports research and educational endeavors of Students, Research Scholars, and the Faculties of the university by collecting, organizing, preserving, and disseminating information and provides instructional programs in all formats through need-based services and enables access to online information resources using modern Information and Communication Technologies.
  •  ICT Wing: The ICT Wing of the Central University of Kerala acts as the central hub for all technical support requirements of the university. It maintains the Information Technology infrastructure of the university such as computer hardware and peripherals, servers, networking devices, etc.
  • Health Center: The Arravalli Center for Health and Medical Services is a small clinic to monitor health and provide primary healthcare to the University fraternity. It caters to basic health needs provides consultancy, and supplies urgent medical resources free of cost.
  • Civil Services Coaching: The Civil Services Coaching Center at CUK offers coaching classes for Civil Services examinations for the SC/ST/OBC-NCL, and other minority students. 
  • Sports Facilities: The University prioritizes the physical and mental well-being of its students and staff. The University has outdoor sporting facilities for football, basketball, cricket, badminton and facilities for indoor sporting activities. The University currently has two playgrounds, a badminton court, and a multipurpose hall to facilitate recreational sports. The University also organizes online Zumba classes to promote physical activity among its staff.
  • Yoga Center: CUK has a yoga center that encourages the students and faculty to regularly practice yoga.
  • Hostel: The university has 6 hostels with rooms having 2-4 rooms. Each building has its own kitchen, dining hall,  reading room,  television, telephone facilities, and kit for indoor games. Wi-Fi and Local Area Network is provided in each room and a separate computer is also provided in every hostel.
