Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE) is a constituent of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). ICAR comes under the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. It commenced its establishment in 1961 and is deemed to be university. It can be considered as a pioneer institution in the field of fishery education, offering courses at masters and doctoral levels.

ICAR-CIFE offers a two-year Masters program (Masters in Fisheries Science) and three-year Doctoral (Ph.D.) degrees in several specialized fields of fisheries studies. M. Fsc Eligibility - Candidates must have completed their Bachelor's Degree in Fisheries Science (B.F.Sc.) with minimum 60% aggregate marks. The minimum age for admission in M.F. Sc is 19 years on 31st July of the academic year.
