The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) 2025 has officially started! Today, April 27, candidates completed Shift 1 of the exam, which tested their mathematics skills from 11 AM to 1 PM. The next round will include Physics and Chemistry, and will start from 2 PM and continue till 5 PM.
Students who appeared today needed to bring their WBJEE 2025 admit card, a government-issued photo ID, and the same photograph used during the application process. Without these documents, entry to the exam hall wasn’t permitted, as per WBJEEB’s strict guidelines.
WBJEE 2025 Exam Highlights
This year’s WBJEE followed its usual pattern with a mix of single and multiple-choice questions. In Mathematics, candidates faced 75 questions, while Physics and Chemistry had 40 questions each. Scoring worked like this:
- Correct answers in Category 1 fetched +1 mark, wrong ones lost 0.25 marks.
- In Categories 2 and 3, correct answers were worth +2 marks, but wrong attempts could lose 0.5 marks. Partial marks were possible for partly correct answers in Category 3.

Initial feedback from students suggests the mathematics section was moderately tough, with many tricky, concept-based questions rather than straightforward problems. Some topics like Calculus and Algebra saw higher weightage this year.
