Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) Mumbai has become the first Indian university to adopt the VIP programme, which rewrites the book on traditional education by fostering interdisciplinary learning and research, hands-on.
Launch and Partnership with the VIP Consortium
At the launch at NMIMS Mumbai, students signing an agreement with the illustrious VIP Consortium joined teams of faculty to work on such innovative projects. Attendee included Edward Coyle from VIP Consortium who stated that this particular program can be so effective in bridging between pure academic theory and practice of real life.
VIP will involve a multi-level student group who work together on research projects. It will help in leadership, critical thinking, and cross-disciplinary problem-solving skills. This hands-on learning would help in getting geared up to work in the evolving modern workforce.
What's Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP)?
VIP brings together students from diverse academic levels to collaborate on research initiatives, encouraging leadership, critical thinking, and cross-disciplinary problem-solving skills. This approach to learning prepares students for the complex demands of the modern workforce.
Expansion Plans
NMIMS will expand VIP beyond engineering into arts, sciences, and other disciplines by incorporating industry collaborations and real-world challenges through industry-sponsored scholarships.
Leadership Vision on VIP initiative
Pro-Vice Chancellor Sharad Mhaiskar said that VIP resonates well with the thrust areas of knowledge creation, teaching excellence, and student engagement for NMIMS. Dean Koteshwararao Anne proposed a comprehensive plan to integrate VIP into various disciplines, making NMIMS a leader in innovative education. This initiative makes NMIMS a leader in developing education further, blurs the line between academia and industry, and prepares students to take on the challenges of the world.
