The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, Postgraduate (NEET PG) rescheduled exam date was announced on July 5. The NEET PG test is now scheduled on August 11 by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). There will be two shifts for NEET PG 2024. The exam was originally planned for June 23, but NBEMS postponed it as a "precautionary measure" in response to reports of irregularities in the most recent competitive examinations. Every year, almost two lakh MBBS graduates apply for approximately 52,000 postgraduate seats nationwide through the NEET PG exam.

The Board stated that the exam was canceled because the Ministry wanted to ensure that the exam procedure was secure and that there was no weakness in it. Chief NBE Dr. Abhijat Sheth added that the Ministry wished to ensure that, during a period when NTA exam cancellations had alarmed Indian students, miscreants did not profit unduly from the vulnerability of NEET PG applicants.
August 15, 2024, is still the deadline for eligibility to appear in the NEET PG 2024. Concurrently, the NMC has also unveiled the "Post-Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023," which require state or central counseling bodies to conduct online NEET PG counseling rounds for every seat.
