The JEE Main 2025 Session 2 will begin on April 2, 2025, along with the CBSE Class 12 board exams. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will administer JEE Main on April 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, and 9. Some class 12 board examinations, such as language papers, home science, and psychology, fall on the same dates as JEE Mains, even though there isn't a direct conflict with core science subjects.
Language tests in Punjabi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Malayalam, Odia, Assamese, Kannada, and other languages will be conducted by CBSE on April 2. Examinations for psychology and science will be conducted on April 3 and 4, from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
According to CBSE, in order to reduce conflicts, it took into consideration the entrance exam schedules, including JEE Main, when deciding on the dates for Class 12th.
While releasing the 2025 datesheets, CBSE stated, “Efforts have been made to complete the examinations much before the entrance examinations and the date of conduct of the entrance examinations meant for the students of Class 12 have been taken into consideration.”

Admission to NITs, IITs, and other engineering institutes is decided by JEE Main. There are 2 sessions for the JEE Mains 2025 exam: January and April. A total of 13.11 lakh candidates signed up for Session 1 (BE/BTech) during the January session. More than 17.88 lakh students are taking the Class 12 exams this year in 120 different subjects. Exams for CBSE Class 12 will conclude on April 4, 2025.
In the meantime, CBSE is thinking of implementing two levels of tests for social science and science in Classes 9 and 10: Standard and Advanced. This would be similar to the two-tier system now in place for mathematics in Class 10. While the Standard level will concentrate on fundamental understanding, the Advanced level aims to develop critical thinking skills and go deeper into concepts.
While certain subjects will be designated for in-depth study at the Advanced level, the syllabus will maintain a common core curriculum. For the 2026 - 2027 academic year, new science, social science and math textbooks with more challenging problems will be available, according to officials from the CBSE and the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).
