JEE Main 2025 Exam - The National Testing Agency (NTA) has introduced some changes in the rules of JEE Main 2025 along with one old and important rule. The JEE Main 2025 Registration process has begun on the official website and the last date to apply for the JEE Main is November 22, 2024. Interested students must know that the website of the JEE Main has now shifted to the old domain i.e. jeemain.nta.nic.in. Session 1 for the Joint Entrance Examination Main 2025 will be conducted from January 22 to 31.
These new guidelines regarding JEE Main 2025 have been made available through official notices @jeemain.nta.nic.in. The major change is brought in the score tie-breaking rules.
What is the Score Tie-Breaking Rule in JEE Main 2025 Exam?
If, in JEE Main, two students get equal marks, then the rules for allotting the better rank between the students have been changed. One of the factors i.e. ‘Age’ has been removed from the tie-breaking calculation rules. Candidates must know that the NTA has released the guidelines for JEE Main 2025 Exam on October 28 along with the online JEE Main 2025 Application Form. The last date to apply for JEE Main exam is November 22, 2024.

Any ties between candidates securing equal marks in the JEE main exam will be resolved by determining the ranks using below mentioned factors:
- Higher score in Mathematics
- Next, score in Physics
- Next, score in Chemistry
- Next, candidate with lower ratio of number of correct answers to wrong answers in all subjects in the exam
- Next, candidate with lower ratio of number of correct answers to wrong answers in Mathematics in the exam
- Next, candidate with lower ratio of number of correct answers to wrong answers in Physics in the exam
- Next, candidate with lower ratio of number of correct answers to wrong answers in Chemistry in the exam
- Next, candidate with older age. (Removed)
- Next, the application number in ascending order. (Removed)

Score Tie Breaker Rule
- As per the new changes, the criteria of ‘elder in age’ and ‘ ascending application number’ are removed by the NTA. The revised guidelines state that if there is a tie till the seventh criterion then both the candidates will get the same rank.
Change in JEE Main Official Website Domain
- Another major change in the JEE Main 2025 Exam this year is in the website domain. For JEE Main 2024, NTA had shifted from the jee old website - jeemain.nta.nic.in to a new jee main website - jeemain.nta.ac.in. However, the NTA has once again shifted to the old jee main website - jeemain.nta.nic.in for JEE Main Exam 2025.
Extra Time for Divyang Candidates
- The news of revised guidelines for candidates identified as Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) for the JEE Main 2025 has been released on the official website.
- Divyang candidates will be allotted an extra 20 minutes time per hour to complete the examination.
