The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has launched the Science Olympiad Excellence (ScOPE) quota for students who excel in national and international science Olympiads. These Olympiads are competitive examinations that assess and challenge students in various academic subjects and skills. For admission to the IIT Madras Olympiad quota, students without JEE advanced qualification are eligible to apply. Interested and Eligible candidates can submit their forms under the IIT Madras Olympiad quota from the 3rd of June 2025.
Who is Eligible?
To be eligible for the IIT Madras Olympiad admission quota, the candidate should have passed class 12. Age and other eligibilities remain exactly the same as that of JEE (Advanced) for the respective year. The candidate also should not have been admitted to an IIT in the previous years.
Additionally, candidates are required to have participated in the last four years in any of the following:
- International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camps (IMOTC) organized by Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE)
- Orientation-cum-Selection Camps (OCSCs) for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology organized by HBCSE.
- International Olympiad for Informatics Training Camp (IOITC) organized by the Indian Association for Research in Computer Science (IARCS).
How to apply?
The admission process for SCOPE would be conducted through a separate portal maintained by IIT Madras and not through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) portal. Candidates who wish to enroll in other IIT programs can enroll through this JoSAA portal.
Candidates can apply by visiting the IIT Madras ScOpE portal- jeeadv.iitm.ac.in/scope as this page will be utilized for admission to various UG programs at IIT Madras through SCOPE. IIT Kanpur has also announced Olympiad-based admissions for its BTech and BS programs from the academic year 2025-26.
IIT Madras Olympiad Quota: Programs and Seat Distribution
In total, 34 supernumerary seats have been allocated across 17 undergraduate programs with two seats per program where one will be reserved for female candidates under the IIT Madras Olympiad admission quota. Check out the table given below for detailed bifurcation of seats:
