JoSAA has released the 2024 seat matrix for IIT Delhi at josaa.nic.in. This matrix outlines the number of seats available for admission at the institute. The IIT Delhi 2024 seat matrix differs for each course and category. Seats will be allocated based on applicants' performance in JEE Advanced. Since there is no centralised counselling for JEE Advanced, admissions will be conducted through JoSAA 2024. Aspirants for IIT Delhi must participate in JoSAA counselling to be eligible for admission. The institute offers a total of 1,209 seats across 17 courses. Candidates are requested to check the complete details of the seat matrix provided on this page below.

Number of Candidates: It was determined that the top 2,50,000 candidates in each category from JEE Main 2024 would be shortlisted for eligibility to take JEE (Advanced) 2024. However, due to the clustering of percentiles, a total of 2,50,284 candidates (excluding 260 foreign candidates) from JEE (Main) were declared eligible for JEE Advanced 2024.

Supernumerary Seats for Female Candidates: In 2024, a total of 3,480 seats designated for females (including supernumerary seats) were allocated, with 15 female candidates securing seats from the gender-neutral pool. The overall percentage of female candidates admitted to IITs in 2024 is 3,495 out of 17,695, which equals 19.75%.

Persons with Disability (PwD): To comply with the provisions of the Persons of Disabilities Act, 5% of seats in each of OPEN, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, and ST categories were reserved for PwD candidates. This year, the physical verification of PwD candidates is not mandated for PwD candidates with a UDID card showing permanent disability.

Supernumerary Seats for Foreign Nationals and DS Candidates: Supernumerary seats for foreign nationals were made available, capped at a maximum of 10% of the total seats in each program. In 2024, two supernumerary seats were designated for foreign nationals in IITs. Additionally, each institute offered two supernumerary seats for preferential allotment to DS candidates. To qualify for this preferential allotment, a DS candidate needs to be listed in the Common Rank List (CRL) of JEE (Advanced) 2024. In total, 10 DS seats were allocated across various IITs in 2024.

Number of Registered and Qualified Candidates: Of the total of 250,284 eligible candidates from JEE (Main) 2024, 186,584 were registered for the JEE (Advanced) 2024 examination, and 180,200 candidates participated in both papers. Among those who took the exam, 48,248 candidates qualified.

Qualifying Criteria: The criteria outlined in the information brochure were adjusted to include candidates who are at least twice the number of available seats in each category. A total of 1,80,200 candidates took both papers 1 and 2 in JEE (Advanced) 2024. Out of these, 48,248 candidates achieved the qualifying marks based on the following criteria: an aggregate of 30.34% for CRL, 27.30% for GEN-EWS, 27.30% for OBC-NCL, 15.17% for SC/ST/PwD, and 7.58% for Preparatory candidates.
