IIMs and other top B-schools in India announce their PI shortlists typically in January and February. The same provides students ample time to prepare for the interviews. Some colleges, such as FMS, have released their shortlists in March. The interview process generally starts in February and continues till March-end or even till mid-April. When a shortlist is made, students receive emails informing them of the same and also guiding them on what to do next.

Shortlisted Candidates Process for IIM CAP 2025

The IIM admission process takes place in three steps:

Primary Shortlisting

This is done just by checking your CAT score and if it is hitting the basic cut-off. The commonly required minimum CAT percentiles are 80-90 for the Open/General category. But the cut-off on the last day is normally higher.

WAT-GD-PI Screening

On shortlisting, a Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD),, and Personal Interview (PI) will also be required. Here, your previous academic performance, work experience, and diversity also count.

Final Selection

In this stage, the IIMs will consider your CAT score, your WAT/PI results, your academic profile, your work experience, and more. All the IIMs then derive an overall score and release their final merit list.

IIM CAP Shortlist 2025

CAP assists in the application process for several IIMs simultaneously. It enables students to apply to more than one IIM and be evaluated as a group. IIM Bodh Gaya will conduct the CAP process this year.

  • IIM Bodh Gaya (Coordinating IIM for CAP)

IIM Interview 2025 Shortlisting Criteria

Every IIM has its own procedure for shortlisting students. But some common things are:

  • CAT Score: It is an important criterion during the first round of selection.
  • Academics: Class X, XII, and graduation percentage play a significant role.
  • Work Experience(If It Is Relevant): If your work experience is applicable, it adds value to your application.
  • Diversity: Gender and academic diversity.

IIM Waitlist Movement 2025

Movement on the waitlist has a huge impact on final admissions. Here’s how it works:

  • If someone is chosen and decides not to attend, that space is given to a wait-listed person.
  • The waitlist moves differently for each IIM and each category.

The Evolution of Waitlist Trends

  • IIM Ahmedabad, the waitlist for the general category goes up 1-2 ranks maximum and usually does not cross 3 ranks in general.
  • The waitlist will run 30–35 in the general category at IIM Bangalore.

Conclusion

Getting into an IIM is tough, but students need to keep working on their profile, whether selected or not, so that they can improve their chances in the future. Rest assured that you will have ample time to prepare and stay updated with the official sources, and you will surely succeed!
