All SC and OBC students from the state enrolled in medical and engineering programs at any government college nationwide would receive full scholarships, according to Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on April 13, 2025, who also announced a portal will be created for this. He was the main speaker at a celebration of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule's birth anniversary held in Gurugram by the All India Saini Seva Samaj.
"The state government has granted Backward Class-B reservation in Panchayati Raj institutions and urban local authorities, and it has raised the annual income threshold for the creamy layer for Backward Classes from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 8 lakh. Children from Backward Class families with an annual income of up to Rs 3 lakh are also eligible for loans up to Rs 15 lakh for domestic education and up to Rs 20 lakh for overseas studies, with an annual interest rate of 4%”, Saini said.
The chief minister of Haryana wished everyone a happy Baisakhi, pointing out that it is also the anniversary of Phule's birth. Phule was a brilliant philosopher, writer, thinker, and social reformer. Saini also honored those who were killed by the British army at Amritsar's Jallianwala Bagh on this special day. Saini said Mahatma Jyotiba Phule worked to awaken the country and society at a time when India was in the shackles of slavery.
"He dedicated his life to removing untouchability, promoting widow remarriage, preventing child marriage, granting women the right to an education, and strengthening society. At a period when it was hard to even consider them, he spoke out in favor of Dalit upliftment, widow remarriage, and girls' education. He once claimed that the only thing that could improve a person and a society was education.
According to him, Haryana is the first state in the nation to choose to purchase all of the farmers' crops at the Minimum Support Price. According to him, 17 lakh impoverished people receive gas cylinders each month for Rs 500 as part of the state government's “Har-Ghar Grihini Yojana.”
