The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) issued show cause notices to 34 schools in India for not adhering to the terms and conditions specified in its Affiliation Bye-Laws, 2018. This move very bluntly and candidly addresses the commitment that CBSE has towards quality education and making sure that all schools affiliated with them do not break the regulations set in place.
Warning on unauthorized sports events
CBSE has also given an advisory warning schools to not participate in the sports activities organized by the 'CBSE Board School Games Welfare Society (CBSE-WSO)', a body which is based in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. The board clarified that this is not a registered body of the CBSE and will take further action against schools which are collaborating with it or participating in its events. Schools should check the authenticity of such events to avoid any unaccepted action.
These measures showcase efforts by the CBSE in bringing all affiliated institutions at par regarding integrity and accountability.
Compliance Importance with CBSE Affiliation Bye-Laws
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has recalled its Affiliation Bye-Laws, 2018, as issued through Circular No. 04/2019, dated January 30, 2019. Clause 12 clearly mentions that in case of violations, these shall be considered as breach, and necessary action will be taken under Chapter 12.
Accountability of School Heads
CBSE clearly highlighted the role of school heads as an important part in being answerable to the body for its rules and regulations. According to Affiliation Bye-Laws Clause 9.2, the heads of affiliated schools are directly responsible for adherence to all provisions and guidelines of the board. Thus, this responsibility would enable CBSE-affiliated schools to have high standards.
CBSE has put the show cause notices issued to 34 schools on its website, thus bringing in transparency to all stakeholders reminding the affiliated schools to make all efforts to keep the standards of a structured, reliable, and workable system of education.
These acts fortify the commitment of CBSE toward maintaining the standards of education and integrity of its institutions affiliated all across India.
