This year more than 40 students from Patwa Toli, also referred to as the "village of IITians," in the Gaya district of Bihar, cracked the JEE Main exam 2025. This consists of 28 students from Vriksha Sansthan, a free coaching center for low-income families and weavers' children that was founded by former IITians.
When Jitendra Patwa became the first person to enroll at IIT in 1991, Patwa Toli started its path to becoming a center for engineers. He now resides in the United States and uses his non-profit organization, "Vriksh We The Change," to help youngsters from his hometown. In Patwa Toli, the IIT desire has since spread like wildfire.
The village, home to about 20,000 people, which was formerly referred to as the "Manchester of Bihar" due to its textile industry, now produces dozens of engineers annually. Even though the majority of families still rely on weaving, education is helping their kids achieve greater things.
