NIFT Registration 2025: The NIFT application submission window had closed on 6th January 2025. Candidates who wished to apply for this design exam could fill in their NIFT application form online through the official website. The exam is conducted for B.Des, M.Des, B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech and MFM courses, and the students have the option to select their course while applying for the NIFT exam.
The NIFT application procedure involves a step-by-step procedure, including registration, filling out the application form, uploading the scanned documents and finally paying the NIFT application fees of INR 3000 for general and OBC category, and INR 1500 for the SC/ST/PwD category. The NIFT form is considered complete only when the exam fees for NIFT is paid. The NIFT application form is same for all the courses and under the NIFT Lateral Entry Admission 2025, candidates will be considered for admission directly to the third semester of the UG program.

NIFT 2025 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must ensure they meet the eligibility criteria before registering for the NIFT entrance exam. The NIFT eligibility criteria for both UG and PG level programs are given below.
NIFT 2025 Eligibility For Undergraduate Programs (B.Des, B.FTech)
- Age: The candidate should be below 24 years of age (relaxation of 5 years for reserved categories).
- Educational Qualification: Must have passed the 10+2 examination from a recognized board or its equivalent.
NIFT 2025 Eligibility For Postgraduate Programs (M.Des, M.FTech, MFM)
- Age: No age limit.
- Educational Qualification: A recognized undergraduate degree in any discipline for MFM and M.Des, and a B.FTech or equivalent degree for M.FTech.

NIFT Registration Process (A step-by-step guide)
The registration for the entrance exam takes place on the official website of the exam. Eligible candidates have to fill out the form online. The stepwise process to apply for NIFT 2025 is given below.
Step 1 - Visit the Official NIFT Website
The first step to registering for the NIFT entrance exam is to visit the official website of NIFT: nift.ac.in.
Step 2 - Register as a New User
- Candidates need to create an account by registering on the portal.
- Click on the ‘Admissions’ tab, and then select the registration link for the relevant year.
- You will be prompted to enter basic details like your name, email address, date of birth, and mobile number.
- Upon successful registration, a login ID and password will be generated, which will be used for all further login.
Step 3 - Fill in the Application Form
After registering, candidates can log in using their credentials from step one, that they received on their registered email ID, and begin filling in the application form. The form will require the students to input the following details.
- Personal Details: Name, parents’ names, date of birth, address, etc.
- Academic Details: Educational qualifications, marks obtained, name of the institution, etc.
- Course Selection: Choose the course you want to apply for, whether it's undergraduate or postgraduate.
- Preferred Exam Centers: Select your preferred cities for the exam center.
Step 4 - Upload Documents
Once the application form is filled out, candidates must upload the necessary documents in the prescribed format.

Step 5 - Pay the Application Fee

NIFT 2025 - Seat intake and Admission Process for UG and PG program
The NIFTs currently offer a combined intake of 5,289 seats. These include all-India, state-domicile, and NRI seats. Note that the NIFTs offer B.Des, M.Des, B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech, and M.F.M courses. Admission to the above courses will be conducted based on NIFT 2025 scores. B.Des and M.Des candidates need to appear in both CAT and GAT written exams.
However, B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech, and M.F.M candidates only need to take the GAT written test. Shortlisted candidates have to next appear in a Situation Test (B.Des) / Personal Interview. The final merit list for admission will be prepared by giving weightage to GAT, CAT, and the Situation Test/ Personal Interview. The only exception is B.F.Tech program, as admission to the course, will be based on GAT scores only.
