KCET Marks vs Rank 2025 Analysis: How to Calculate KCET Marks, Expected Rank, Previous Year Cutoff

KCET Marks vs Rank 2025 - The KCET 2025 Marks vs Rank helps candidates predict their expected rank to determine their chances of admission to top KCET colleges for undergraduate Engineering and Pharmacy programs across Karnataka.

Applicants who secure a score of 170 or higher in the KCET can expect to receive a 99 percentile rank and be among the top 1000 ranks. Such candidates need not worry about getting admitted to top colleges in Karnataka, such as RV College of Engineering, BMS College of Engineering, and PES University.

Below 70 is a low score. Such candidates generally have ranks more than 40,000 and finding a seat in top colleges for them becomes very difficult. They might find opportunities in colleges like MS Ramaiah and Bangalore Institute of Technology (BIT).

The KCET 2025 exam will take place on April 15, 16, and 17, 2025. The KCET 2025 cutoffs will be announced after the declaration of results on the official website. From the trends of previous years, the expected cutoffs for KCET 2025 are: General (90 marks), OBC (81 marks), EWS (87 marks), SC (75 marks), and ST (72 marks).

KCET Marks vs Rank 2025

The KCET test is conducted for a total of 180 marks. Candidates need to achieve the KCET cutoff for 2025 to clear the test. The KCET cutoff score varies every year depending on variations in the highest and lowest scores. Similarly, the KCET score range and their respective ranks also vary every year. The table given below will act as a predictor for KCET 2025 marks vs rank for candidates.

Top Performers: Those who score between 170 and 180 are considered top performers. They can expect to get into any university of their choice across Karnataka. Some of the top universities are RV College of Engineering and BMS College of Engineering.

Average Performers: The candidates who secure marks between 120 and 140 are average performers. Their rank is usually between 2000 and 5000. Candidates in this category can look at colleges like Bangalore Institute of Technology (BIT), Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, and RNS Institute of Technology.

Low Performers: Low performers are candidates whose scores are less than 70. They are ranked above 40,000 and can prefer colleges such as MS Ramaiah and BIT.

How to Calculate KCET 2025 Percentile?

The KCET 2025 percentile is calculated using the following formula:

Percentile = N/T * 100

Where,

  • N - number of candidates with normalized marks less than or equal to the candidate
  • T - Total number of candidates.

Example:

KCET Rank - 1000

Total appearing students: 2,00,000

Percentile = [(200000-100)/200000] *100 - (199000/200000) * 100 = 99.5

Candidate’s expected KCET Percentile = 99.5

How is KCET 2025 Rank calculated?

The following formula is used to calculate KCET 2025 rank:

Formula:

Final KCET Rank = 50% of KCET Score + 50% of Class 12 PCM Score

Component

Score

KCET Marks (out of 180)

  • No weightage is given to the KCET 2025 practical test or English marks.
  • Scores of Biology and Chemistry are used for Medical/Pharmacy rank calculation.
  • The board marks for CBSE/ICSE students are normalized by KEA.

Is 80 marks good in KCET?

No, a score of 80 is regarded as low on the KCET exam. An 80 will likely result in a rank between 30,000 and 40,000. Candidates may be able to gain admission to some mid-tier colleges, but not in sought-after branches like CSE, AI, and ECE.
