How to Join ITI Colleges in 2025?
The procedure for the ITI admission process 2025 is quite straightforward. Here are the steps involved
1. Meet the Eligibility Criteria for ITI Admission
There is eligibility criteria to be met by the students applying. Eligibility and age limit for ITI admission are the following:
- Educational Criteria: You must have passed class at least 8th, 10th, or 12th grade. It depends upon the course you want to do after doing the completion of the training. A course requires a minimum of a 8th-grade pass degree. Others require passing the exam of 10th or 12th grade.
- Age: Most states provide an age restriction of minimum 14 or 15 years, and in most states, the maximum age is up to 40 years.
- Nationality: Only citizens of India can apply to get admission in India's ITI institutions.
2. Choose a Course and Trade
As for the courses regarding ITI, there are plenty of them. Here you can select whichever course you are interested in. From an electrician to a mechanic, or a fashion designer, or a plumber, the trade list varies according to your needs.
3. Choose an ITI Institute
Once you select the course for which you desire to get admitted, you have to choose an ITI institute. There are various government and private ITI institutes in India. Generally, government ITIs take less fees in contrast to the private ones, but both give quality training.
4. Apply for ITI Admission
All states allow an online form filling application procedure for admission in the ITI. In order to apply, here's how you do it:
- Go to the Official Website: State-wise ITI has its admission portal. You would be required to log in to the official website of the ITI admission process in your state.
- Register Yourself: Upon reaching the website, you would have to register yourself and fill in details like the applicant's name, email address, phone number, etc.
- Fill out the Application Form: Do the registration followed by filling up of the application form with details of personal information, educational qualifications, and courses preferred.
- Upload Documents: You will have to upload the scanned copies of all important documents like your educational certificates, age proof, and passport-sized photographs.
- Pay the Application Fee: Once the form is filled, you need to pay the application fee online. The fee is very affordable and may vary from state to state as well as course to course.
5. Attend Counselling
You will be counselled after you have applied for the same. The counselling process will allot a seat to you in one of the ITI institutes against your marks and according to availability at the institute. You might even need to visit the institute for document verification .
6. Documents Required for ITI Admission 2025 and Verification
During admission, you will be required to submit the originals of the following documents:
- Mark Sheets: Mark sheets of 8th, 10th, or 12th standard.
- Transfer Certificate: A certificate from the previous institution. IF you belong to the reserved category-SC/ST/OBC, Caste Certificate.
- Domicile certificate: Document to prove you are a domicile of the State you applying.
- Passport size photographs: Typically 4-5 latest passport size photographs
ITI admission procedures generally start from June to July.
Important Points for Admission into ITI Colleges
Candidates who wish to pursue ITI must meet the minimal eligibility criteria. The following are the essential qualifying criteria for entrance to the course:
- Candidates aged 14 to 40 at the start of the admission session are eligible for admission to ITIs and ITCs.
- The educational qualification needed is subjective and varies from class 8 to class 12 depending on the course one decides to follow.
- Ex-servicemen and war widows are eligible for a five-year age reduction.
In order to provide training in a variety of trades, the Directorate General of Training (DGT), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Union Government, established Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) and Industrial Training Centers (ITC).
Courses for ITI Pass Outs
The following courses are generally taken up.
Apprenticeship Training Scheme
Skilled students can pursue apprenticeship training in a variety of areas after finishing ITI. The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship's Directorate General of Training is implementing the Scheme with the goal that "Training delivered in Institutions alone is not adequate for skill acquisition and has to be reinforced with training in the actual work environment."
For individuals who took the AITT portion of the ITI final test, the apprenticeship training period is typically one year long. Typically, it takes three years for newcomers. The trainees receive a monthly stipend while they are in training.
Lateral Entry to Polytechnic Diploma Engineering
Engineering courses are offered in polytechnics that are AICTE-approved for a length of three years through admission exams that have different names in different states (JEXPO in West Bengal, JEEP in Uttarakhand, JEECUP in Uttar Pradesh, CG PPT in Chandigarh etc.). And after finishing the course, participants receive diplomas in a variety of fields. Those who have completed a minimum of a two-year ITI course and have earned a National Trade Certificate are eligible for lateral entrance into the Polytechnic diploma program's second year. Every year, the JEXPO and the VOCLET entrance test are held for this reason.
