TNEA Eligibility Criteria 2025 - The Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), Tamil Nadu will release the TNEA eligibility criteria 2025 on the official website of TNEA i.e. tneaonline.org. Candidates who wish to appear in TNEA counselling 2025 must check the eligibility criteria defined by the admission authority. They can also visit the official website of TNEA and check the TNEA 2025 eligibility criteria in the information brochure uploaded online.

TNEA counselling is conducted for admission to B. Tech programs offered by engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu. Candidates before registering themselves must make sure that they meet the minimum eligibility criteria for TNEA Counselling 2025. They must also note that those who do not meet the minimum TNEA eligibility criteria will not be taken into consideration for the counselling process.

There are various conditions in TNEA eligibility criteria 2025 that define candidates' ability to appear in the counselling process. These TNEA eligibility conditions comprise nativity, qualifying exam, vocational courses prescribed for BE/B. Tech degree admission, reservation of seats, and criteria for different branches.

TNEA Eligibility Criteria 2025 - Nativity

Candidates who wish to appear in the TNEA counselling will be considered eligible to apply for admission through TNEA if they meet the below mentioned criteria:

  • Candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu who have passed class 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 in Tamil Nadu only.
  • Children of central government employees (irrespective of their nativity) are considered eligible only if their parents or guardians (in case both parents are not alive) have been serving in Tamil Nadu continuously for 5 years at the time of TNEA application form filling.
  • Sons/daughters of All India Service Tamil Nadu cadre officers.
  • Children of employees serving in the Public Sector or Government recognised institutions who at the time of TNEA 2025 application form submission had been working in their organisations for 5 years are also eligible to apply, irrespective of their domicile.
  • Other state candidates who have studied Class 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 in Tamil Nadu can also apply for TNEA counselling 2025.
  • Candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu who have passed any of the 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 classes or their equivalent qualifying examinations from schools situated outside the state of Tamil Nadu are also considered eligible for TNEA counselling 2025.

TNEA Eligibility Criteria 2025 - Qualifying Exams

Candidates who have passed class 12 examination or its equivalent securing a minimum average percentage marks in mathematics, physics and chemistry put together will also be considered eligible to apply for TNEA counselling 2025.

Apart from the eligibility criteria mentioned above, the candidates will also be considered eligible for admission through TNEA counselling if they have passed any one of the HSC (vocational subject) as given below in the table with one of the engineering related subjects namely Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics securing a minimum average percentage put together.

TNEA Eligibility Criteria 2025 - Branch-wise

If candidates wish to apply based on branch, they must fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria mentioned below:

Marine Engineering

  • Candidates must have passed class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, English, and Mathematics securing at least 60% marks in aggregate in PCM.
  • They must secure at least 50% marks in English subject in class 10 and 12. (it is mandatory for all the candidates)

Besides the above mentioned eligibility, the candidates must also meet the below mentioned criteria:

  • Maximum age limit - 25 years
  • Minimum height - 157 cm
  • Minimum weight - 48 kg
  • Normal Color vision

What are the Fitness Requirements for Admission?

Candidates applying for admission must be passed as physically fit on the production of a physical fitness certificate obtained from the Medical Officer authorised by the Director General of Shipping, failing which they will lose admission.

TNEA Eligibility Criteria 2025 for Female Candidates

The eligibility criteria of TNEA for female candidates applying for Mining Engineering is separately defined. Refer to the points below to understand the TNEA eligibility criteria for female candidates.

  • No woman should be employed in any part of a mine which is below the ground
  • In any mine above the ground except between the hours of 6 am and 7 pm
  • As per Coal Mines Regulation 1957, 86 no adolescent or woman shall descend or ascend a shaft in a cage or other means of conveyance unless accompanied by one or more adult males
  • They should satisfy the academic norms of Anna University
