The MAT Eligibility Criteria is specified by the All India Management Association (AIMA) which is the conducting body of the exam. As per the eligibility criteria of the MAT Exam the candidates have passed their graduation from a recognized college/university in any discipline. Candidates in their final year of graduation are also eligible to apply for MAT 2024.

The MAT Exam is conducted for admission to MBA/PGDM programmes offered by almost 800 top B-Schools across the nation. The candidates have the option to choose 5 colleges as per their order of preference while filling out the MAT Application Form. MAT 2024 Exam: The MAT Registrations for the August phase started on June 25, and the last date to apply for the exam is 18 August 2024. Candidates can apply on the official website, and the admit card for MAT IBT 1 will be released on August 11, 2024, and the exam is scheduled for August 14, 2024. MAT is conducted multiple times a year and in 3 different modes - PBT, CBT, and IBT 1 & IBT 2. The admit cards and exam dates differ for each of these modes. However, the syllabus and exam pattern remain the same.

MAT Exam Eligibility Criteria

While filling out the MAT Application, the candidates must ensure that they fit in the eligibility criteria for the exam. Given below are the detailed eligibility criteria for the MAT Exam.

Candidates must have completed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university

Candidates who hold a professional degree such as CA, CS, or ICWA are eligible to apply for the MAT entrance exam

Candidates who are in their final year of graduation are eligible to apply for MAT 2024 exam

Age Limit

No upper age limit is specified by AIMA to appear for MAT 2024

Minimum Marks

No minimum percentage is specified for taking the exam. However, every institute has a minimum percentage requirement for admission.

In the case of grades or CGPA, the percentage of marks calculation will be based on a procedure certified by the respective Institute by the participating management institute's eligibility criteria.

Number of Attempts

No bar on the number of attempts for the MAT exam, thus the candidate can take the examination as many times as they want and improve their score

Work Experience

No minimum work experience is required to take MAT 2024

MAT Reservation Criteria

AIMA has fixed a reservation criteria which is same as the last year's examination. Candidates need to secure the minimum cutoff score based on which they will selected for the further round of interview. Check the MAT Reservation Criteria below.

MAT Eligibility Criteria for Admission to Participating Institutes

AIMA does not specify the MAT Exam Eligibility Criteria for admission to the MBA course of participating institutes. Each institute have their own criteria. Candidates are advised to go through them before applying for MBA Colleges for admission.

  • Minimum 50% to 60% marks are required in graduation
  • Professional degree holders may be given some relaxations
  • Women candidates may be given weightage
  • Candidates with work experience may be preferred first
  • Academic performance in classes X and XII may be given advantage

What is the eligibility criteria to appear for MAT?

As per the MAT eligibility criteria, the candidates should have completed a graduation degree in any field. Candidates in their final year of graduation can also apply for the exam.

How many MAT attempts are allowed?

There is no limit to the number of attempts in the MAT exam. The exam is conducted four times a year, and the candidates can opt to appear as many times as a candidate want.

Can I appear for the MAT exam from home?

Yes, candidates can appear for the MAT exam from home. They can choose the Internet-Based Test (IBT). The IBT is a remote proctored exam and can be taken from home.

Is MAT eligible for MBA?

Yes. The full form of MAT is the Management Aptitude Test. The exam is conducted for admissions to MBA programs offered by more than 800 B-Schools across the nation. It is a widely accepted exam for MBA and is also considered easier than other exams.
