Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET) was an admission exam used by some institutes in India as the first step in the admission to postgraduate programs in management. Institutes which used the exams included Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and the IIT Schools of Management. The results of JMET were used to short-list the candidates for subsequent part of the selection process. In 2011 JMET was discontinued and replaced by Common Admission Test
JMET Eligibility
Students with a first class Bachelor's degree in engineering (or equivalent) or first class Master's degree in Science are eligible for admission to the M.Mgt. Programme. Students should have secured min. 60% aggregate marks / min. CGPI of 6.5 out of 10 at the qualifying examination. There is a relaxation of 5% in marks or equivalent in CGPI for SC/ST candidates. Work experience is desirable but not mandatory.
JMET Exam Pattern
The JMET exam will be of objective type multiple choice pattern. The aspirants are required to mark the correct answer on the OMR sheet provided from the four alternative options. There will be 30 questions each from different sections viz., Verbal Communication, Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation. The candidates have to answer all the sections with in time duration of 180 minutes. Each correct answer will be rewarded 1 mark and 0.25 marks will be deducted for wrong response.
