Difference Between JEE Main Qualifying Cutoff and JEE Main Admission Cutoff
JEE Main has two types of cutoffs: the Qualifying Cutoff and the Admission Cutoff. The Qualifying Cutoff determines eligibility for JEE Advanced, while the Admission Cutoff specifies the opening and closing ranks for colleges. The qualifying cutoff of JEE Main 2025 will be the minimum score that candidates must secure in JEE Main 2025 to be eligible for JEE Advanced 2025 while the admission cutoff of JEE Main is the opening and closing rank at which each institutes offers admission to its programs. The Opening and Closing Rank is released by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority through JoSAA Counselling.
Candidates with more than or equal to the JEE Main 2025 category wise cutoff are eligible to take JEE Advanced 2025. Only the candidates who secure JEE Main Qualifying Cutoff will be eligible to take JEE Advanced and if qualified, they can get admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology i.e. IITs in India. Candidates appeared in the examination must secure the minimum rank for admission to the colleges accepting JEE Main score. The admission cutoff for admission to all the participating institutes will also be released after each round of JoSAA Counselling is conducted.
