NMAT Eligibility Criteria refers to the age limit, nationality, academic qualifications, aggregate marks, and other criteria that are required to apply for the NMAT exam by GMAC. As per the basic eligibility criteria, a candidate must have completed graduation with at least 50% marks from a recognized university/college. There is no upper age limit to apply for the NMAT exam.
Before registering for the examination, candidates should individually verify the eligibility criteria of NMAT-participating colleges. While applying, applicants are required to select five institutes of their preference for admission, and these institutes may have different eligibility criteria for admission. It must also be noted that the eligibility criteria may vary as per the allotted college.

NMAT General Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria related to the age limit, nationality, academic qualification, number of attempts, and the work experience to be able to fill the NMAT by GMAC 2024 Application Form. Check the NMAT eligibility criteria below.
Age Limit
There is no age limit to apply for the NMAT exam. GMAC does not specify any age criteria to sit for the NMAT exam, and hence any candidate from any age group can apply for the NMAT exam.
Educational Qualification
The basic educational qualification required for the NMAT exam are given below.
- Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree (10+2+3 / 4) from a recognized university
- A minimum of 50% marks in graduation
- Candidates in the final year of graduation can also apply. However, their admission will be considered provisional until they submit the required final mark sheet and certificate of graduation at the time of admission.
Professional Work Experience
It is not mandatory to have any work experience for the NMAT exam. However, candidates with 2 to 3 years of work experience may be given preference during the time of admission process.
Number of Attempts
Candidate can appear for the NMAT exam 3 times during a year including the first attempt, retakes, and no shows. It should be noted that the out of the three attempts, the best score will be taken into consideration for the admissions.

NMAT Eligibility - Other Requirements
Apart from fulfilling the NMAT minimum eligibility requirements, candidates must also meet the other requirements to appear for the NMAT exam. Below listed are the conditions that the candidates should fulfill to complete the NMAT eligibility and application process.
- Creating an account on the official website of NMAT by GMAC using valid email ID and Number
- Filling out the NMAT Application Form with personal, contact, and academic details
- Selecting five preferred B-schools where the NMAT score will be sent
- Uploading recent passport-sized photographs
- Paying the NMAT fee of INR 2800 via debit/credit card, or any other net banking medium
- Schedule NMAT time, date, and location from the available slots
- Downloading the NMAT admit card 2024 and carrying it to the exam center along with a valid photo ID proof
- AIU certificate is mandatory for those who have completed their graduation from overseas university
- Provisional admission will be granted to those who are currently pursuing their final year examination
- Provisional admission is subject to clearing the final examination with at least 50% marks in their graduation
- At the time of admission candidates must produce their semester/trimester or consolidated marksheets (if the college does not issue separate marksheets) of all the years
- In case of a photocopy of the marksheet, attestation of the principal or official college seal is mandatory, without which the photocopy will not be accepted
- Candidates who have passed or have appeared for their graduation examination from a University where the Grade Point Average system is followed, are then required to produce the equivalent percentage for the GPA/CGPA obtained in writing from the concerned University.
NMAT by GMAC - Reservation Policy
As per the Graduate Management Associate Council (GMAC) there is no reservation policy as the participating colleges have their own admission process. Hence, each participating institute have its own reservation policy for MBA/PGDM admissions.
Furthermore, there is no provision of category-wise different minimum qualifying marks to register for NMAT exam, and also no concession is granted in NMAT application fee for candidates belonging to the reserved categories (ST/ SC/ OBC/ PwD).
Reservation of seats for the widows/wards of armed forces personnel killed/disabled in action or during peacetime and wards of Kashmiri migrants will be applicable for those candidates who have successfully met the desired cut-offs and other eligibility requirements of the respective course/s applied at the time of registration.
