IMU CET 2025 notification is expected to be released soon in March 2025, similar to last year. The IMU CET exam will likely be conducted in the first week of June 2025, followed by the result in the third week of June 2025.

The candidates who qualify the IMU CET Exam are issued the Rank Certificates which can be downloaded from the website and will be available for download until the admission process is going on. IMU will conduct online counselling for admission to only 6 of its campuses - Navi Mumbai, Mumbai Port, Kolkata, Visakhapatnam, Chennai, and Kochi. The IMU CET Syllabus contains MCQs from subjects like Physics, Chemistry, General Aptitude, English, and Mathematics for all courses (except BBA) which are to be answered within a time frame of 3 hours. Each wrong answer will result in a negative marking of 0.25 marks. For MBA course questions will be asked from Logical Reasoning, Verbal Ability, Data Interpretation, and Quantitative Ability, while for the B.Tech course the exam covers questions from Mathematics, English, and subject-based knowledge in Mechanical, Civil and Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture.

What is IMU CET 2025?

Indian Maritime University administers the IMU CET exam 2025 (Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test). It is an annual entrance examination for universities. Admission to a variety of undergraduate and graduate programmes is provided by the IMU CET. Candidates can enroll in B.TechB.Sc.M.TechBBAM.Sc., and other programmes if they want to apply for the exam. Only those applicants who pass the IMU CET will be permitted to enroll. Candidates who meet the requirements may enroll in one of the five campuses, which are situated in Cochin, Visakhapatnam, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai.

The Indian Maritime University (IMU) administers a national-level common entrance test for admission to BSc, BTech, UG Diploma, MTech, MBA, and PhD programs at its campuses.

The IMU CET 2025 application form will be available at imu.edu.in. Candidates who meet the minimum eligibility requirements will be able to apply for the IMU CET exam. The application process will include registration, form completion, document uploading, payment of the IMU CET registration fee, and final submission IMU CET 2025 application form will be made available at imu.edu.in. The steps for completing the IMU CET application form 2025 are as follows.

  • Fill out the online application with Basic details.

  • Upload scanned images of the photograph and signature. The image should be in jpg/jpeg format only. Upload scanned images of documents. The documents should be in pdf/jpg/jpeg format.

IMU CET Exam 2025 Eligibility Criteria

Tabulated below is the eligibility criteria for both UG and PG course of the IMU CET exam. Candidates are advised to carefully check this criteria before applying for the exam.

B.Tech (4 Yr. Marine Enegineering)

Qualification: 

  • Candidates must pass class 12th or equivalent from recognized board.
  • Candidates must have a grade of "C" or above from an accredited institution to be considered.

Age Restrictions:

  • Male applicants must be between the ages of 25 and 28 (SC/ ST applicants must be 30 years old). For female candidates, the maximum age to apply will be 27 to 30 years old (SC/ST - 32 Years).
  • Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English are required disciplines that the candidate must pass.
  • Candidates must receive at least 60% on the PCM exam and 50% on the English component.

B.Tech - 4 Yrs. (Naval Architechture & Ocean Engineering) AND B.Tech (Naval Architechture & Ship Building)

Qualification: Candidates must pass class 12th or equivalent from recognized board.

Age Restrictions: 

  • The reference date for calculation will be from the date of commencement of academic session from 1.08.2025
  • Male applicants must be between the ages of 25 and 28 (SC/ ST applicants must be 30 years old).
  • For female candidates, the maximum age to apply will be 27 to 30 years old (SC/ST - 32 Years).
  • Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English are required disciplines that the candidate must pass.
  • Candidates must receive at least 60% on the PCM exam and 50% on the English component
  • There would be a 5% relaxation in the eligibility marks (except English marks) for SC/ST

MBA (2 Yr. in International Transportation & Logistics Management) AND 2 Yr. MBA (Port & Shipping Management)

  • Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Marks: The candidate must receive an overall grade point average of at least 50% from any accredited university or institution.
  • There is no upper age limit for eligibility.
  • There would be a 5% relaxation in the eligibility marks (except English marks) for SC/ST
  • All candidates who meet the medical requirements for this course must present a physical fitness certificate from a licensed physician.

B.Sc (3 Yr. Nautical Science) - Residential

  • The applicant must have earned a passing grade in 12th grade or its equivalent from an accredited board.
  • Marks: In order to qualify, a candidate must receive a minimum of 50% in English and 60% in PCM.
  • Relaxation: Candidates will receive a 5% score relaxation, except English for SC/ST. Relaxation in English Marks will only be applicable to those who are native of Lakshawdeep and Andaman-Nicobar Islands and belong to the scheduled tribes and whose parents are also native of those islands & belong to the Scheduled Tribes of those Islands.

1 Yr. DNS Course Leading to B.Sc (Applied Nautical Science) - Residential

  • The applicant must have earned a passing grade in 12th grade or its equivalent from an accredited board.
Marks
In order to qualify, a candidate must receive a minimum of 50% in English and 60% in PCM.

OR

B.Sc in PCM or Electronics with Physics as an individual subject in one of the years with not less than 55% marks in the final year

OR

BE/B.Tech from IIT or from a college recognised by the AICTE with not less than 50% marks in the final year

Age Restrictions:

  • The reference date for calculation will be from the date of commencement of academic session from 1.08.2025
  • Male applicants must be between the ages of 25 and 28 (SC/ ST applicants must be 30 years old).
  • For female candidates, the maximum age to apply will be 27 to 30 years old (SC/ST - 32 Years).

Relaxation:

  • Candidates will receive a 5% score relaxation, except English for SC/ST. Relaxation in English Marks will only be applicable to those who are native of Lakshawdeep and Andaman-Nicobar Islands and belong to the scheduled tribes and whose parents are also native of those islands & belong to the Scheduled Tribes of those Islands.

Lateral Entry for BTech (Marine Engineering)

  • Candidates should have a minimum of 55% in English in their Class 10/Class 12/Diploma English exams and a three-year Marine/Mechanical/Electrical/Electrical & Electronics Engineering Diploma from a recognized Institute. 
  • Candidates must have finished their diploma within the required three years.
  • Candidates must have a four-year diploma in shipbuilding engineering from a recognized institute, as well as a minimum of 50% in English subjects in Class 10/Class 12/Diploma examinations.

Lateral Entry for BTech (Naval Architecture and Ocean engineering) ( 2nd Year)

  • The age range for candidates should be 18 to 26 years old.
  • Candidates must hold a Diploma in Ship Building Engineering from the Institute of Ship Building Technology in Goa, a Diploma in Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering from AMET University in Chennai, or a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering/Civil Engineering from any AICTE-approved institute.
  • The Diploma should have been finished by the candidates within the allotted time.
  • Candidates will be admitted depending on their grades.

Lateral Entry for BTech (Naval Architecture and Ocean engineering) (3rd Year)

  • Candidates must have received a minimum cumulative grade of 60% in their BSc (Ship Building & Repair) degree.
  • Candidates have earned their degrees within the allotted three years.
  • Based on the proportion of marks they receive, applicants will be admitted.
  • The candidates should be between the ages of 19 and 27.

2 Yr. M.Tech (Naval Architechture & Ocean Engineering) AND M.Tech (Dredging & Harbour Engineering) - Non-Residential

  • Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Civil/Marine/Naval Architechture/B.Tech (Fisheries Engineering) or equivalent
  • Marks: The candidate must receive an overall grade point average of at least 55% from any accredited university or institution.
  • There is no upper age limit for eligibility.
  • There would be a 5% relaxation in the eligibility marks (Except English)
  • All candidates who meet the medical requirements for this course must present a physical fitness certificate from a licensed physician.

2 Yr. M.Tech (Marine Engineering)

  • Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree (BE/B.Tech) in Mechanical or Marine Engineering/Naval Architechture
Marks

The candidate must receive an overall grade point average of at least 55% from any accredited university or institution.

OR

Associate member of Institution of Engineers Part A and B in Mechanical Engineering with not less than 55% marks in the final year

OR

MEO Class 1 certificate of competency issued by the Govt. of India

Note: Canddiates with GATE Score in Mechanical or Marine Engineering/Naval Architechture are exempted from IMU CET . However, they will only be considered against residuary seats, if any.

  • There is no upper age limit for eligibility.
  • There would be a 5% relaxation in the eligibility marks, except in English.

Medical Eligibility

  • The applicant must have normal binocular vision (6/6 in each eye individually) in order to be considered.
  • Candidates for the B.Tech. in Marine Engineering program should have unassisted vision of 0.5 (6/12) in each eye, or 0.67 (6/9) in the better eye and 0.33 (6/18) in the other eye.
  • The applicant must fulfill all medical criteria and be in good health according to DGS standards.

IMU CET 2025 Admit Card

The authorities will release the IMU CET admit card from in the fourth week of May 2025. The admit card includes certain personal information, such as name, gender, selected courses, category, etc. The admission card will be made available online. Candidates must input their User ID and password that were provided at the time of application form filing in order to download the admission card. Candidates must bring their admit cards to the testing location because they will not be permitted to enter the exam room without them.
