Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) is a national level entrance exam conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) every year as per the directions of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. GPAT Examination is scheduled for January month of every year. GPAT is conducted by AICTE every year for offering admissions to M.Pharm courses. The minimum requirement to fulfill GPAT Eligibility is a Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree for a duration of at least 4 years.

GPAT is an entrance examination that would be held for a duration of 3 hours. The total marks that would be allotted for the exam would be 500. The questions would be appearing on the computer screen and multiple choice questions would be asked. The question paper of GPAT shall be published only in English. The test is usually conducted as per the guidelines issued by MHRD. GPAT Syllabus would be based on the undergraduate curriculum published and revised by the Pharmacy Council of India. Candidates can download the GPAT Scorecard and Merit List from the official website after the first week of February tentatively in the year 2020. There would be no centralized counseling held for GPAT and all successful candidates would be required to directly apply for getting admission to colleges that accept GPAT scores.

GPAT Eligibility

AICTE had released the GPAT Eligibility criteria. In order to get admitted to the Master of Pharmacy programmes, students would be required to apply for GPAT. Prior to applying, the candidate should know and fulfill the relevant eligibility criteria for which the GPAT Application form would be available from the first week of November. About 30,000 candidates would be giving the GPAT Exam this year. GPAT Score would be accepted by all AICTE approved institutions. 
 
The eligibility criteria for GPAT 2020 is as below:
  • A candidate should be a citizen of India
  • They must be Bachelor's degree holders in Pharmacy (4 years after 10+2, including lateral entry candidates)
  • Those who are in the final year of B. Pharmacy course are also eligible for appearing in GPAT exam.
  • There is no age restriction for the exam.
  • Candidates with a lateral entry in bachelor's degree are also eligible to apply.

GPAT Exam Pattern

GPAT Exam would be held in the month of January all over 58 cities in India. Admission in Pharmacy Programmes would be given to eligible candidates who qualify on the basis of their performance in the examination. It is very important for the candidates to know the detailed GPAT Exam Pattern before attempting the GPAT Examination. The following details on GPAT such as - Mode of the exam, question count, question type, maximum amount of marks, marking scheme, duration of the test and other details. 

The exam pattern of GPAT 2020 is as follows:

  • Number of Questions: 125 questions
  • Exam Mode: Online
  • Exam Duration: 180 Minutes
  • Maximum marks: 500
  • Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions
  • GPAT Marking scheme
  • Every question would be carrying 4 marks each.
  • One mark would be deducted for every wrong response given. 

The questions that are marked with wrong answer option response or marked with more than one option would be considered for negative marking.

AICTE would be providing a trial test for GPAT in the month of November so that the candidates would be familiar with the GPAT Exam pattern.

GPAT Admit Card

GPAT Admit Card 2020 will be released in an online mode. It will be accessible from January 2020. GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test) is a national level online test. It is directed for giving admission to the PG program in pharmacy in AICTE approved institutes and departments. This exam is overseen by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The GPAT Admit Card will be issued by the authority by way of online mode on the official site. Candidates can download the same from first week of January 2020.  GPAT 2018 Admit Card Date

The GPAT Examination would be conducted in the third week of January 2020. This exam will be held through online mode. Applicants will be able to download their GPAT Admit Card from January 2020. It will be issued by means of online mode or by email. No other mode will be material to get the admit card. Following a couple of days of the examination, the result will be announced in the month of February.

GPAT Exam Prepare

GPAT Exam is conducted to facilitate admission into the Bachelor of Pharmacy course and to award fellowship to eligible Pharmacy graduates. There is a one third negative marking assigned to every wrong answer.
