What is the COMEDK Exam?
COMEDK UGET is a national-level examination conducted by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering, and Dental Colleges of Karnataka for admission to around 190 unaided private engineering colleges in Karnataka. COMEDK was entrusted with the responsibility to organize testing procedures to determine the merit of aspiring students in an effective, fair, transparent, and non-exploitative procedure by KPCF (Karnataka Professional Colleges Foundation – Medical & Dental) and KUPECA (Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering Colleges Association).
The COMEDK is the conducting body of the exam and the actual exam is the UGET exam, meaning the Undergraduate Entrance Test. It is a computer-based-test for admission to the BE/B. Tech courses. The test is open to all the eligible students in the country and the seats to the various participating colleges are allocated based on the COMEDK online counselling process. Subsequent to the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) being mandated as the only acceptable entrance exam for admission to Medical and Dental courses in the country, COMEDK continues the evaluation process for the members of Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering Colleges Association (KUPECA) i.e., around 190 Engineering colleges.
