BSc Biotechnology Overview

The Bachelors of Science in Biotechnology is an undergraduate program that deals with the integration of technology with biology. Background

Students wishing to study BSc Biotechnology  are required to have a background in science during their 10+2. This includes them having studied Biology along with their Physics, Chemistry or Maths.

Age

Students are required to be a minimum of 17 years or older to be deemed eligible. 

Score

Students are advised to have a minimum of 50% marks scored during their 10+2 to be considered for most universities for the BSc Biotechnology course. 

BSc Biotechnology Admission Process 2025

The BSc Biotechnology admission process can differ from one university to another. However, most universities grant admission through either through merit on the basis of previously given examinations and giving an interview as designated by their university of choice. 

However, the general procedure for the admission process for the BSc Biotechnology course could go as follows:

  1. Merit Based: Students are selected based on the performance marks obtained in the 10+2 examinations as well as their performance in interviews conducted by their college/ university of choice.
  2. Entrance Exam Performance Based: Some universities conduct entrance examinations or select students on the basis of their performance/ ranks on specific entrance exams. This includes students meeting specified cut-off criterias.
  3. Students may apply for colleges either through offline or online means.
  4. Colleges after assessing applications and performances of students determine which candidates to shortlist.
