The admission procedure of VIT Chennai can be completed online by visiting the official website of the university. Candidates seeking admission can fill the application form available on the online portal to get themselves registered. VIT Chennai Courses include programs offered at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. The university also offers a program at the Doctorate level.
Candidates seeking admission to any of the programs offered by the university are required to fulfill the minimum educational qualification defined by the university.
Minimum Educational Qualification
Candidates seeking admission at different levels must meet the following mentioned requirements.
For Undergraduate programs
- For admission to B. Tech, the candidates must have passed senior secondary school with PCM/B securing at least 60% marks in aggregate from a recognized board.
- For admission to BA LLB and BBA LLB, the candidates must have secured at least 60% marks in aggregate in SSC.
For Postgraduate programs
- Candidates seeking admission to M. Tech must hold a bachelor's degree in the relevant field securing at least 60% marks in aggregate.
- For integrated M. Tech, the candidates must hold 70% marks in aggregate.
- For admission to M. Tech by research, the candidates must hold a master's degree in engineering or M. Sc securing at least 60% marks in aggregate.
- For admission to MCA, the candidates must have passed B. Sc in the relevant field or BCA with Mathematics in SSC or graduation securing at least 60% marks in aggregate.
- Candidates seeking admission to MBA must have graduated with 60% marks in aggregate from a recognized university.
For Ph.D. and M. Phil
- For admission to M. Phil, the candidates must hold a master's degree in the relevant field securing at least 60% marks in aggregate from a recognized university.
- For admission to Ph.D., the candidates must possess a master's degree in the relevant field securing at least 55% marks in aggregate from a recognized university.
Admission to B. Tech, BA LLB, and BBA LLB at VIT Chennai
The university offers B. Tech program at the undergraduate level. The program is offered under various specializations to choose from. Interested candidates can go through the brochure of the university for selection of field.
- For admission to B. Tech, marks obtained by the candidates in VITEEE examination are observed. Candidates are then advised to appear for the counseling procedure held at the campus.
- Admission to BA LLB and BBA LLB is done based on the marks obtained in CLAT or LSAT followed by group discussion and personal interview rounds.
Admission to M. Tech, Integrated M. Tech, M. Tech by Research, MBA, MCA at VIT Chennai
VIT Chennai offer programs like M. Tech, M. Tech by Research and MBA at the postgraduate level and these programs are offered under several specializations.
- For admission to M. Tech, the candidates are shortlisted based on their marks in VITMEE or GATE examinations.
- Admission to Integrated M. Tech is done based on candidates' performance in the last qualifying examination.
- Admission to M. Tech by research and MCA is based on candidates' performance in VITMEE followed by personal interview round.
- For admission to MBA, the candidates must hold a valid score in CAT/MAT/XAT/GMAT/NMAT or CMAT followed by essay writing and personal interview round.
Admission Ph.D. and M. Phil at VIT Chennai
- For admission to Ph.D., the candidates are shortlisted based on their valid sore in VITREE exam followed by merit in the qualifying examination, research output, and personal interview.
- For admission to M. Phil, merit in the last qualifying examination and score in VITREE and interview are considered.
