Established in 1963, Siddaganga Institute of Technology, Tumkur is one among the 125 institutions run by Sree Siddaganga Education Society, founded and nurtured by his Holiness Dr. Sree Sree Sivakumara Swamiji. Swami Sree Sree is doing a noble job of providing food, shelter, and education to over 9000 children drawn from the poor sections of the society without discrimination on the basis of caste, creed or community at Sree Siddaganga Gurukula.
Siddaganga Institute of technology, also popularly known as SIT is spread over 50 acres surrounded by greenery and covered with salubrious climate as that of Bangalore.
The college offers 12 UG programs with a total intake of 950 students, 16 PG programmes with a total intake of 432 students and 204 intake of Ph.D. students.16 departments of the institute are recognized as research centers by Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, where students can register for the Ph.D. programme and M.Sc by Research. The total number of students in the campus is over 4500.
The infrastructure of the campus is impeccable and it provides much more than the basic facilities any college could offer.it has a fully air-conditioned library with a seating capacity of 450 which includes a heavy collection of resourceful books on various subjects. At present, it has 1,10,586 books inside the library. It also has a Spacious canteen, fully furnished guest house, an extensive playground for conducting sports activities, an auditorium with sizeable capacity and an amphitheater is also present where day to day events are held All the departments in the institute have well-equipped laboratories. There are 42 Computer centers with 2470 computers, all are available with internet connectivity. The facilities not just end here, the campus also has 5 boys and 2 girls hostel which can accommodate around 2,200 students. An IBM software center of excellence which aims at increasing the skill sets of the faculty and students. An incubation center has also been started since 2014 to promote Entrepreneurship and innovation among students.
Coming to the faculty, SIT has 349 well qualified and experienced faculty members out of which 120 are Ph.D. holders and other holds at least a master degree.80 more faculty members are pursuing their Ph.D. programme in IISc, IITs and other reputed universities.
The college has also won many awards and accolades in the field of education. Siddaganga Institute of Technology has secured 78th rank under Research and training in the country for the year 2018 according to the National Institutional Ranking Framework, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India.
The week Survey-2017 has ranked SIT-MBA as the 132nd Best Institute in All India Non-Government B-schools category.
SIT-MBA is also placed in the GOLD CATEGORY in the AICTE-CII Survey of Industry Linked Institute-2017.

Siddaganga Institute of Technology (SIT), Tumkur, Karnataka), founded in 1963, is an elite institution. It provides undergraduate (UG), graduate (PG), and Ph.D. programs in many Engineering science fields. Admission in SIT is such that outstanding students are selected through entrance examinations and educational background. SIT's admission process is highly organized to provide a smooth candidate experience. Whether applying for B.E., M.Tech, MBA, MCA, or Ph.D. programs, SIT provides comprehensive guidance and support throughout the application and counseling stages. With its emphasis on academic excellence and accessible education, SIT continues to attract aspiring students from across the country.
Programs and Eligibility
Undergraduate Programs (B.E.): Undergraduate Programs (B.E. ):
Total Intake: 950 students across 12 programs.
Eligibility: Candidates must have done 10+2 with a minimum of at least 45% aggregate marks.
Selection Process: On the basis of Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) marks or marks obtained via the COMEDK, for students who do not belong to the state of Karnataka.
Architecture Applicants: Must pass the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA).
Postgraduate Programs (M.Tech, MBA, MCA): Postgraduate Programs (M.Tech, MBA, MCA):
Total Intake: 432 students across 16 programs.
Eligibility for M.Tech: Graduation (B.E./B.Tech/M.Sc.) with at least 50% marks.
Eligibility for MBA/MCA: Graduation with a minimum of 45% marks.
Selection Process
M.Tech: Based on Karnataka PGCET or GATE scores.
MBA and MCA: Based on Karnataka PGCET scores.
Ph.D. Programs:
Eligibility: A master’s degree in the relevant field.
Selection Process: According to the marks earned in the previous qualifying examination and the interview performance of the applicant before SIT.
Application Process for 2024
B.E. Programs
Step 1: Visit the KCET website and download the information brochure.
Step 2: Complete the online application form with correct information and submit the necessary papers such as passport sized photo, candidate's signature, left-hand thumb impression, and parent's signature.
Step 3: Pay the application fee online through e-Challan.
Step 4: Submit the application form and keep the form as a reference for later use in the admission process.
Step 5: Admit cards will be issued for the CET, which must be preserved for admission purposes.
Note: Non-Karnataka candidates can apply through the COMEDK portal.
M.Tech, MBA, and MCA Programs: M.Tech, MBA, and MCA Programs
The process is similar to the B.E. Thus, while candidates are certainly entitled to apply to have these calls supported, it should be emphasised that applications must be made to the PGCET website only.
Ph.D. Programs
Step 1: Obtain the application form from SIT’s admission cell.
Step 2: Fill out the form and attach relevant documents.
Step 3: (Please submit the form together with the registration fee (cash or demand draft) at the deadline.
Step 4: Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed, and admission will be approved accordingly.

The institute uses scores from examinations like KCET, Karnataka PGCET, and COMEDK UGET for undergraduate and postgraduate admissions. Every year, the cutoff ranks serve as the measure of the program's popularity and competitiveness, such that B.E. Courses such as Computer Science Engineering and Electronics Communication Engineering are the course that commonly secures the top ranks. Candidates having good GATE scores or Karnataka PGCET performance are admitted to associated areas (specialized areas) such as Structural Engineering, Power Systems, and Data Science. Placement: Placements were phenomenal but job opportunities weren’t great cause the moment you get placed in a company you were not allowed to appear for any other company unless you surrender your offer letters.
College: It is overall a good college, the student should take admission in this college if they are looking for the nearest college close to home. Also, the placement is also excellent.
