NIT Trichy UG Admission 2024

NIT Trichy admission 2024 is offered for B.Tech and B.Arch programs. Candidates must have a valid JEE Main score to apply for UG admission at NITT. NIT Trichy eligibility criteria and fee details for undergraduate courses are as follows:

Candidates seeking admission to any of the programs offered by the institute must ensure that they fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria defined by the institute. Besides, NIT Trichy Placements wholly depend on candidates’ capability to learn and understand.

Minimum Educational Qualification

For Undergraduate Programs

• For admission to B. Tech, the candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology securing at least 75% (65% for RC) marks in aggregate.
• For admission to B. Arch, the candidates must have passed 10+2 with Mathematics securing at least 75% marks in aggregate.

Note* Candidates belonging to the reserved category are given 5% marks relaxation.

For Postgraduate Programs

• For admission to M. Tech, the candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in the relevant field securing at least 60% marks in aggregate from a recognized university.
• Candidates with a BE/B. Tech degree with at least 60% marks in aggregate are also eligible to apply for admission to M. Tech.
• For admission to M. Arch, the candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline securing at least 60% marks in aggregate.
• Candidates with a B. Arch degree are also eligible to apply for admission to M. Arch.
• Candidates seeking admission to MBA must possess a bachelor’s degree in the relevant with at least 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized university.
• For admission to MCA, a bachelor’s degree with Mathematics/Statistics/Business Mathematics as main subject at senior secondary school and graduation level with at least 60% marks in aggregate is required.
• Admission to M. Sc requires a bachelor’s degree in the relevant field securing at least 60% marks in aggregate.

For PhD and MS by Research Programs

• For admission to MS by Research, the candidates must possess a ME/M. Tech degree in the relevant discipline with at least 60% marks in aggregate.
• Admission to PhD requires a master’s degree in the relevant field securing at least 60% marks in aggregate from a recognized university.

Admission Procedure for Different Courses at NIT Trichy

Admission to B. Tech and B. Arch programs

Candidates seeking admission to B. Tech and B. Arch must appear in and qualify Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main.

• JEE Main is a national level entrance examination, qualifying which ensures admission to Engineering and Technology programs.
• Candidates with a valid score in JEE Main must sit through the counseling conducted by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA).

Admission to the postgraduate programs

• Admission to M. Tech and M. Arch is done based either on CCMT or GATE examination.
• CCMT stand for Centralized Counseling for M. Tech/M. Arch. In order to get admission to any of the NITs, the candidates must sit through the counseling process conducted.
• Candidates with a valid score in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) are also eligible to apply for admission to M. Tech or M. Arch programs.
• Admission to M. Sc requires qualifying of an entrance examination conducted by NIT Trichy along with a valid score in the last qualifying examination.
• For admission to MBA, candidates are shortlisted based on their performance in the Common Aptitude Test (CAT) conducted at the national level for Management programs.
• Candidates who hold a valid score in CAT examination are required to sit through the group discussion and personal interview rounds conducted by the institute.
• For admission to MCA, the candidates are shortlisted based on their performance in NIMCET.

Admission to PhD and MS by Research programs

NIT Trichy Courses include PhD and MS by Research programs offered at the Doctorate level. These programs are offered under several specializations.

• Candidates seeking admission to the MS by Research program are shortlisted based on their performance in GATE examination.
• The shortlisted candidates must qualify personal interview round for MS in sponsored category.
• Admission to PhD requires qualifying a Written Examination followed by Technical and Personal Interview rounds conducted by the institute.
