NIT Arunachal Pradesh Ph.D Eligibility Criteria
Sciences/ Humanities/ Management Departments:
- Master's Degree with minimum 60% marks in a relevant branch of Science/Humanities/Social Sciences/Management.
Engineering Departments:
- Master's Degree with at least 60% marks in a relevant branch of Engineering/Technology, along with a Bachelor's Degree in the same field.
Bachelor’s degree:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology, or equivalent in any discipline with a minimum CGPA of 7.0 out of 10 or 70% of marks. Candidates must have a valid GATE score to avail of an institute fellowship.
Ph.D. eligibility for candidates/staff working under sponsored projects:

NITAP Ph.D Admission Process
- Candidates recommended by DRC and approved by the Chairman of the Senate will receive admission offers.
- To become a "Ph.D. Scholar (PS)," candidates must pay the required fee.
- The registration date is when the fee is paid.
- After registration, a Research Advisory Committee (RAC) will be set up by the Dean (Academic), HOD, and Supervisor.
- The RAC will meet within a month to approve the research area and study courses and review the Supervisor.
NITAP Ph.D Registration Process
- PS must register in person on the scheduled dates; representatives cannot register for them.
- Registration and fee payment are required every semester until the Ph.D. thesis is submitted.
- The registration form needs to be completed and submitted to the supervisor.
- Ongoing registration depends on a satisfactory progress report from the Supervisor/HOD.
- Missing the registration or fee payment deadline results in "voluntary discontinuation" and loss of PS status.
- These rules apply to both full-time and part-time Ph.D. Scholars.
- Late registration is available with a fee of Rs. 500 per day for up to a week past the deadline, with possible extensions approved by the Dean.
- Registration rules are applicable each semester until the thesis is submitted.
