Nalanda Open University, also known as NOU, Patna, is Bihar's only prominent distance-learning University. It was established in the year 1987 to provide students with the best experience of distance learning programs. With more than 100 courses in various fields, the university has retained its position in the list of leading universities for open and distance learning. The University is governed by the State Government and holds rankings by prominent bodies such as the NAAC and NIRF.
Currently, the University operates out of its camp office located at Biscomaun Bhawan, Patna 800 001, on the second, third, fourth, and twelve floors. NOU, Patna is approved by the Ministry of HRD, the distant Education Council (DEC), and the University Grants Commission of the Government of India, to provide distance education to the students.
Nalanda Open University offers numerous UG, PG, and Diploma programs in the fields of arts, science, commerce, management, and more on a merit basis and a specialized 2-year course on B.Ed. based on an entrance examination. This university was founded with the intention of giving individuals the chance to further their education and expand their knowledge by offering them access to a variety of academic programs.
