Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, Kharagpur Admission
IIT Kharagpuradmissions 2025 are now open for MSc, BArch, and MTech courses. The institute requires JEE Advanced scores for the BTech program. IIT-KGP also accepts CAT scores for MBA admissions. In addition to the BTech program, IIT Kharagpur offers a variety of other courses, including BSc/BS, Integrated MTech, Integrated MSc, LLM, MBA, M.Plan, M.Arch, B.Arch, E-MBA, and PhD programs.
Admission to these courses is based on entrance exams such as JEE, GATE, IIT JAM, and CAT. Check out the table below for the IIT Kharagpur admission process in 2025 for various courses.

IIT Kharagpur UG Admissions
Admission to all undergraduate courses is based on a written entrance examination. Candidates who have qualified for IIT-JEE can apply for B.Tech, B.Arch, Dual Degree (Integrated Bachelor and Master of Technology), and five years integrated MSc.
Seat Reservation: 15% for SC candidates, 7.5% for ST candidates, 27% for Other Backward Classes.
IIT Kharagpur PG Admissions
- Admission to this program is through Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
- Admission to the MSc-PhD program is through JAM (Joint Admission Test).
- Admission to the MBA and MHRM is through CAT followed Written Ability Test (WAT) and PI.
- Admission to MMST, LLB, LLM, EMBA, and PG Diploma in Business Analytics is through an Entrance Test conducted by IITKGP followed by an Interview.
IIT Kharagpur PhD Admissions 2024
Following are the several categories of the PhD program:
- Regular with Institute Assistantship
- PhD with Individual Fellowship (INSPIRE, UGC NET, etc.)
- Sponsored PhD
- PhD through sponsored research projects
Admission to this program is through a Department Based Test which is followed by Academic performance, work experience, and interview. Candidates who have qualified GATE/ NET/ CSIR/ UGC or SLET are also eligible for admission.
IIT Kharagpur Application Procedure: MTech/PhD
- The application form needs to be submitted online by clicking on ``Apply Online’’.
- Candidate needs to register using Email ID and Password. Any Data entered during registration cannot be changed.
- After registration, log in with your email and password and complete the application form.
- Upload the following documents:
- Passport-size photograph.
- Signature
- Mark sheet and certificate of qualifying degree.
- Category certificate.
- Certificate showing proof of having mathematics at 10+2 level or graduation level.
- Pay the application fee. The application fee is Rs. 500/- for GE/OBC Male/Transgender Candidates and Rs. 250/- for all Female and PwD/SC/ST Candidates.
- Take a print of your application form for your records.

Placement: Almost 100% placement in the college. Average salary of the college is around 12LPA.

IIT Kharagpur- Home away from home
Placement: A good number of students are placed through our CDC with decent packages. Department wise, CSE gets the best placement offers, but ECE, Industrial Science and Engineering, Mathematics and Computing, Instrumentation Engineering is also good.

Faculty: Prof. Koeli Ghoshal (Math).
Simply because she makes us visualize what the theorems and postulates actually mean. Also she makes us understand the physical significance of it. Like how is it used in real life. So math seems interesting.
