IIT Gandhinagar Admission 2025-2026: Process, How to Apply, Dates

The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar, commonly referred to as IIT Gandhinagar, is one of the 23 IITs in India. IIT Gandhinagar accepts online mode of application. The institute offers programs at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It also offers a PhD program at the Doctorate level. The courses offered by the institute are B. Tech at the UG level along with M. Tech, M. Sc, and MA at the postgraduate level. The institute also offers a PG Diploma in Engineering.

IIT Gandhinagar Admission 2025-26: B.Tech

The institute offers a B.Tech program at the undergraduate level. The program is offered under 6 different specializations. This allows students to choose their respective fields.

• For admission to B. Tech, the candidates must qualify JEE Main and JEE Advanced entrance examinations.
• A valid cumulative score of JEE Main and JEE Advanced gets students through the admission procedure.

IIT Gandhinagar Admissions 2025-26: M. Tech

IIT Gandhinagar Courses offers an M.Tech program at the postgraduate level. The program is offered under 8 different specializations. Besides, the institute also offers a Postgraduate Diploma in Engineering program.

• Admission to the Postgraduate Diploma in Engineering is done based on candidates’ performance in a Written Test and a Personal Interview round conducted by the institute.
• For admission to M. Tech, the candidates must qualify GATE examination. The candidates are shortlisted based on their performance in the GATE examination followed by the written test and personal interview rounds conducted by the institute.

*In the case of a part-time M. Tech or Postgraduate Diploma in Engineering program, the candidates are not required to hold a GATE score.

IIT Gandhinagar Admissions 2025-26: M. Sc

IIT Gandhinagar offers an M. Sc program at the postgraduate level with 4 specializations.

• Admission to M. Sc is done based on candidates’ performance in the Joint Admission Test for M. Sc (JAM).
• JAM is an entrance examination conducted by IIT Bombay.
• For admission to M. Sc under Cognitive Science, the candidates must qualify for the written entrance test followed by a personal interview round conducted by IIT Gandhinagar.

IIT Gandhinagar Admissions 2025-26: MA

• Admission to MA is done based on candidates’ performance in the written entrance examination conducted by IIT Gandhinagar.
• Candidates are finally shortlisted based on their performance in the entrance examination followed by the personal interview round conducted by the institute.

IIT Gandhinagar Admissions 2025-26: PhD

IIT Gandhinagar offers PhD program at the Doctorate level. There are 13 different specializations in the program.

Admission to PhD program is offered under two categories. One is Regular (RR) for full-time research candidates and the other is for Continuing Doctoral Program (CDP) for the candidates working in an industry.

• For admission to PhD, the candidates are shortlisted based on their performance in the written entrance test conducted by the institute.
• The final shortlisting is done based on candidates’ performance in the written entrance test along with an interview round conducted at the campus of IIT Gandhinagar.
• Candidates who hold a valid score in the NET/ GATE examinations can directly appear for the interview round.

*For admission to PhD in Earth Science, the candidates must possess a valid score in CSIR NET or GATE score to be eligible for admission.

*For admission PhD in Physics, the candidates must have qualified NET JRF or GATE or JEST in Physics.

IIT Gandhinagar Eligibility Criteria For B. Tech

• Candidates seeking admission to the B.Tech program must have passed senior secondary school with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as main subjects securing at least 75% marks in aggregate from a recognized board.

IIT Gandhinagar Eligibility Criteria For M. Tech

• For admission to M. Tech, the candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in BE/B. Tech/M. Sc securing at least 55% marks in aggregate.
• Candidates who have completed B. Tech from any of the IITs with a CGPA of 8 or above are also eligible to apply for admission. (No GATE Score is required)

IIT Gandhinagar Eligibility Criteria For M. Sc and MA

• Candidates seeking admission to M. Sc and MA must possess a bachelor’s degree in the relevant field securing at least 55% marks in aggregate.

IIT Gandhinagar Eligibility Criteria For PhD

• Candidates seeking admission to the PhD program must possess a master’s degree in the relevant field securing at least 60% marks in aggregate.
• Candidates belonging to the SC/ST category are given 5% marks relaxation.
