Indian Institute of Management (IIMI), Indore Admission
IIM Indore’s admission process to its Post Graduate Program (PGP) is a highly selective and rigid formalized set of steps aimed at selecting the best candidates from a group of bright and talented contenders. Following is the admission process followed by IIM Indore:
Stage 1: The candidates are selected based on the score gained in CAT or other equivalent examinations and the final selection is done through a four-tier selection process for the Post Graduate Program (PGP) in IIM Indore. All prospective candidates desirous of joining the PGP program must first appear in the CAT examination. While doing registration they also have to fill in for the admission to the PGP program at IIM Indore in the same application. This makes it easier for the applicants to follow as they also get to apply for the program and register for the CAT at the same time. After registering for the program, the candidates need to appear for the CAT examination that is held at several places in India. The Cognitive Ability Test or CAT as it is commonly known is one important selection tool because it presents how good or bad the candidates are in areas like quantitative ability, data interpretation, logical reasoning, and verbal ability.
Stage 2: The next process that is implemented after the CAT exam is to shortlist candidates for the Personal Interview (PI) round. This means that it’s very much a competition just to make the shortlist and candidates from different categories are selected based on their CAT scores. The candidates who have good ranks in CAT are selected for the PI round which is done offline at various centers like Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Indore, Kolkata, and Mumbai. The round that is what we call the PI round is also crucial in the selection process because when the PI is done the admissions committee can judge the candidate by his eloquence, his logical thinking processes, and suitability in equal measure.
Stage 3: The final phase of the admission process leads to the preparation of a merit list of candidates, who will be offered admission in the PGP program. This merit list is determined based on a cumulative score that is arrived at based on the candidate’s marks in his/her 10th and 12th standard examinations, CAT, and PI scores. This way, the making of the composite score is kept in check as a way of keeping a balance in assessing the academic background of all the candidates as well as their characteristics. Out for the final selection are shortlisted candidates of this procedure and only they get a chance to join the PGP course in one of the most prestigious management institutes of India, IIM Indore.
