Hajee Karutha Rowther Howdia College, Theni was started in 1956 by the late Hajee Mohamed Meera Rowther, popularly known as Hajee Karutha Rowther. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council NAAC awarded the highly coveted "A" Grade to Hajee Karutha Rowther Howdia College in 2005, thus fulfilling the cherished dream of its founder. At the university level, the College received the 2005 Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai "BEST COLLEGE AWARD FOR COMMUNAL HARMONY" award. UGC granted autonomy to the college for the Academic Year 2013–2014. In 2022, NAAC reassessed and reaffirmed accreditation with the "A++" grade in the 3rd cycle.
It has numerous young talents whom it has graduated to serve the country and society with a lot to be proud of. In the years to come, it strives to keep providing better service.
