The college was build in late 2004 by Dr. Bala V Balachandran, Professor Emeritus at Kellogg School of Management. This is said to be one of the youngest leading business schools of India. These flagship programs of Great Lakes Chennai are said to be one-year Post Graduate Program in Management (PGPM) as well as two-year Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM).
