The 'Escola Medico Cirurgica da Goa' was founded in 1842 during Portuguese administration and renamed Goa Medical College in 1963. It is the oldest medical college in Asia. The college has been under the jurisdiction of Goa University since 1986, having previously been under Bombay University. Goa Medical College Hospital, which today has its headquarters in Bambolim, has a long history of delivering high-quality care to all segments of the population.
