Umbrella Scholarship Meghalaya 2024 is part of Umbrella Scheme for Education of ST Children. It is a centrally sponsored scheme implemented by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs in collaboration with the state government. The scheme covers various types of scholarships such as pre-matric, post-matric, top class and national overseas scholarships. Umbrella Scholarship 2024 is for post-matric level of education which includes class 11 and above, diploma, degree and postgraduate courses. It aims to encourage ST students to continue their education and enhance their employability and competitiveness in the job market.

Umbrella Scholarship Meghalaya - Eligibility

To apply for Umbrella Scholarship Meghalaya 2024, you must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be ST.
  • The applicant must be a permanent resident of Meghalaya.
  • The applicant must have passed 10th standard or equivalent from a recognized board/institution.
  • The applicant must be studying a regular course at post-matric or above level from a recognized institution.
  • The applicant must not be getting any other scholarship/stipend for the same course from any other source.
  • Family’s annual income from all sources must not exceed INR 2.5 lakh.

Umbrella Meghalaya Scholarship - Benefits

The Umbrella Scholarship Meghalaya provides financial assistance to ST students in the following forms:

  • Maintenance allowance
  • Reimbursement of compulsory non-refundable fees
  • Study tour charges
  • Thesis typing/printing charges
  • Book allowance

a) Degree and postgraduate level courses including M. Phil., Ph.D. and Postdoctoral research in Medicine (Allopathic, Indian and other recognised systems of medicines), Engineering, Technology, Planning, Architecture, Design, Fashion Technology, Agriculture, Veterinary & Allied Sciences, Management, Business Finance/Administration, Computer Science/Applications.

b) Commercial Pilot License (including helicopter pilot and multiengine rating) course.

c) Postgraduate Diploma courses in various branches of management & medicine.

d) C.A./I.C.W.A./C.S./I.C.F.A. etc.) M. Phil., Ph.D. and Post Doctoral Programmes (D. Litt., D.Sc., etc.)

The scholarship amount will depend on the student’s course, place of study, and hosteller/day scholar status. The National Scholarship Portal directly disburses the scholarship amount into the student’s bank account. Depending on the student’s academic performance and fund availability, the scholarship is renewed for the next year.

Umbrella Meghalaya Scholarship - Application Process

The application process for the Umbrella Scholarship Meghalaya is quite simple. It’s conducted online and can be done through the NSP. You just need to follow the steps given below: 

  1. Visit the NSP website, scholarship.gov.in.
  2. Register as a new user using your Aadhaar number or bank account number.
  3. Log in with your username and password and fill out the application form with the required details.
  4. Upload the scanned copies of the necessary documents.
  5. Submit the application form and take a printout for future reference.

  • In this way, you will now have to click on the Umbrella Scholarship Meghalaya Status option.

Umbrella Scholarship Meghalaya - Renewal Process

  • Open the official website of the National Scholarship Portal.
  • You will have to open the login option on the homepage.
  • According to the Umbrella Scholarship Meghalaya Renewal Process, you will have to choose the renew login option along with the login year.
  • You will see a login form on the screen.
  • You will have to enter your application ID and password. According to the Umbrella Scheme Scholarship, the captcha code will appear on your mobile screen.
  • You will have to enter this captcha code as well as select the login link.
  • In this way, the form for renewing the application will appear on the screen.
  • You have to fill out your details in this form and click on the submit button.

Umbrella Scholarship Meghalaya - Terms & Conditions

  • The scholarship will be renewed every year if the student performs well in the previous qualifying exam.
  • Students who have passed one stage of education and are studying in the same stage of education in different subjects are not eligible to apply.
  • Students pursuing postgraduate course in medicine are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
  • Students who are domiciled in one State/UT but holding ST certificate of another State/UT can avail the scholarship in the State/UT from where the ST certificate was issued.
  • Scholarships are not awarded for training courses like Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Courses and Private Pilot, License Courses, Courses at Training Ship Dufferin (Now Rajendra) courses of training at the Military College, Dehradun, Courses at Pre-Examination Training Centres of all India and State levels and Trade Courses at the Industrial Training Institute.

Rules for Issuing of Books to Students

  • Each student will be issued an identity card.
  • Each student will have to submit a requisition for book from the Book Bank in a form.
  • Student has to keep the loaned books in good condition.
  • In case of damage or loss, student has to bear the cost of the book.
  • Books borrowed at the end of each term should be returned to the Book Bank. College/Institution Principal is responsible for the timely return of books, whether student is continuing or has completed the course or has withdrawn during the term.
