SSC CHSL 2024 Exam Pattern: Understanding the Three Tiers

The SSC CHSL 2024 exam comprises three tiers, each testing different skills:

Tier-1: Computer Based Test (CBT) (60 minutes)

Tier-2: Computer Based Test (CBT) (60 minutes)

  • Typing Skill (English): This section tests your typing speed and accuracy in English using a computer keyboard. Practice using online typing tutors or software to improve your speed.
  • Descriptive Writing (English/Hindi): Unleash your inner writer! This section evaluates your writing skills, grammar, vocabulary, and ability to express yourself clearly and concisely on a given topic in either English or Hindi.

Tier-3: Skill Test (For LDC (Stenographer) Post Only) (Pen and Paper Based)

This is a dictation test at 80 words per minute (wpm) in shorthand, followed by transcription. Only candidates applying for the LDC (Stenographer) post need to appear for this tier.

SSC CHSL Skill Test or Typing Test

The Skill Test will be held for applicants applying for the position of Data Entry Operator, while the Typing Test will be conducted for the positions of PA/SA and LC. The Skill Test/Typing Test is purely for qualifying purposes and is not used to determine the final merit list.

SSC CHSL Syllabus 2024
