Scholarship for PG students in India

As per the guidelines of the National Scholarship for Postgraduate Students in India, there are ten thousand (10000) scholarships or maybe decided by the commission at the rate of  15,000/- per month for ten months in a year, available for Indian students under the scheme of ”national scholarship for postgraduate studies”.
WOMEN RESERVATION: The slots are to be allocated as per the government of India reservation policy, which states that 30% of the slots are reserved for female candidates. 

 Eligibility for the scholarship : 
  • The scholarship is not eligible for students who have already acquired any postgraduate degree, this scholarship is available for only to students in the first postgraduate degree program.
  • In the case of integrated programs, the scholarship will only be availed for the postgraduate component.
  • Only students who are below the age of 30 on the date of admission in the first semester are eligible for the scholarship.
  • The scholarship does not recourse the students that are pursuing postgraduate programs through correspondence/distance/open mode, private or part-time mode. It is only to be utilized by the students who are admitted to post-graduate programs through offline/ regular/full-time mode.
Type of  institutions :

The scholarship will be available for pursuing postgraduate programs under this scheme in the following types of institutions;

  • Institutions with National importance, such as the Indian Institute of Technology(IIT), the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the National Institute of Technology (NIT), and many more.
  • Institutions that are fully funded by the central or state governments and are empowered by the award of degrees, such as Central Institute of Indian Languages Mysore, and Central Institute of Psychiatry (medical) Ranchi.
procedure:
  • Applications are available once a year on the National e-scholarship portal of the Government of India. 
  • Only verified and complete applications will be accepted for the scholarship. 
  • Candidates are not required to submit any affidavit or certificate on NSP while submitting the online applications.
  • Candidates need to have a separate KYC-compliant bank account to submit bank details for the scholarships.
  • Institutions will verify the eligibility of students based on the documents submitted.
 Renewal:
  •  The scholarship will be only renewed for students who have maintained the prescribed attendance. 
  • The scholarship will only be renewed after the succession completion of the first year.
  • For the scholarship renewal, the candidate is required to apply for the “renewal” of their scholarship on the National e-scholarship portal of the Government of India.
  • Change in course of study and institution is not permitted.
