RAS Full Form
The full form of “RAS is Rajasthan Administrative Service Officer”, is a remarkable civil service within Rajasthan, India. It works with other state services like the Rajasthan Accounts Service and the Rajasthan Police Service. Members of the state's civil service cadre belong to RAS officers.
After selecting the RAS officers, they undergo a training program for 2 years at the Rajasthan State Institute of Public Administration. The Department of Personnel under the Rajasthan government manages the cadre controlling authority for this service. The highest-ranking official within the RAS is the Chief Secretary.

Exam Pattern
The RAS exam is a three-stage process designed to assess a candidate's knowledge, skills, and suitability for the role. Here's a breakdown of each stage:
Stage 1: Preliminary Examination:
Objective - Prelims aim to select candidates for the main exam. For the further calculations, prelims marks are not considered.
• Structure: The pattern of the exam includes 150 questions of objective type.
• Subjects: The stages combine questions about subjects like General knowledge
• Duration: 3 hours
• Negative Marking: For each incorrect answer, one-third marks will be deducted.
Stage 2: Mains Examination
Objective: The purpose of this exam is to find out the candidate's efficiency in writing
• Structure: This consists of 4 written papers and is a descriptive type test.
• Marks: The work of this exam is 200 marks and the aim is to view the candidate's ability in writing.
Subjects :
o Test I: This focuses on the history, culture, economy, and social issues of the country.
o Test II: Past era, geography, connections with neighboring countries, science & technology, and environmental issues in the world are the main focus points of this exam.
o Test III: Candidates' analytical abilities, logical reasoning, decision-making skills, and problem-solving aptitude
o Test IV: This evaluates a candidate's writing ability and Hindi & English essays.
Stage 3: Interview/Personality Test:
Objective: The interview assesses a candidate's personality, communication skills, leadership qualities, and overall suitability for the RAS role.
• Structure: Verbal (Oral) Examination
• Marks: This exam totals of ‘100 marks’.
• Focus: To judge the candidate's confidence, decision-making abilities, and understanding of current affairs.
RPSC Exam Syllabus
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for the RAS exam, you must meet the following criteria:
• Origin: No other nationality is allowed despite Indian citizenship.
• Age Bar: The age limit is between 21 to 30 years. Age relaxation might be allowed for applicants who belong to certain communities by the norms of the government.
• Educational Qualification: You must possess a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university or its equivalent. Candidates can even submit applications despite the fact that they are appearing for final examinations.
