PM Scholarship, also known as the Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme (PMSS), is a scheme that provides financial assistance to the wards of martyred soldiers of the armed forces, central armed police forces (CAPFs), and state police personnel, as well as their widows, who are pursuing professional degree courses in engineering, medical, dental, veterinary, MBA, MCA, and other fields.

The Kendriya Sainik Board Secretariat (KSB), which is part of the Indian Ministry of Defence, administers the system. The Indian government has increased the monthly scholarship sum for girls from Rs 2250 to Rs 3000 and for boys from Rs 2000 to 2500. The government also awarded 500 new scholarships to the children of State Police officers who were killed in Naxal or terror acts.

PM Scholarship Scheme Overview 2024

The Pradhan Mantri Yojana, Modi Scholarship (PMSS) would provide financial assistance to 82,000 students, with 41 thousand boys & 41 thousand girls receiving it equally. Each year, successful students from across the country will be awarded scholarships. It is managed by the Kendriya Vidhyalaya Sainik Board Secretariat (KSB PMSS- www.ksb.gov.in), Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defence, Government of India.

The scholarship will be awarded to the wards and widows of Ex/Serving/RPF/RPSF/CAPF/Armed Rifles so that they can later obtain better employment prospects. The PM scheme has done justice to applicants who are blood relatives of someone who is or has served in the military forces. It continues all year except from January to April. The selected candidate will get monthly prizes and privileges in the amount specified.

What is the PM Scholarship 2024?

PM Scholarships are available to all segments of society, not just those involved in defence. Many endowments that fall under the Prime Minister (PM) Scholarship Scheme are-

  • PM Scholarship for PhD
  • Scholarships for 12th-pass students.
  • PM Scholarships for engineering students.
  • PM Scholarships for the tenth grade were awarded to students.

Among these scholarships, the Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme 2024 (PMSS 2024) is one of the most well-known, having been introduced in 2006. The Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme sought to promote education from the 12th grade to the postgraduate level. The scheme primarily benefited wards and widows of deceased or ex-service members of the Armed Forces, Paramilitary Forces, and Railway Protection Force. PMSS 2024 is supported by the National Defence Fund, which is wholly managed by the Prime Minister's Office and overseen by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The initiative has been expanded to include dependent wards of state police personnel who were killed in terror/Naxal acts beginning with the academic year 2024. The endowment is for education at various technical colleges, including medical, dental, veterinary, engineering, nursing, agriculture, BBA, BCA, B.Pharm, MBA, MCA, and other AICTE/UGC-approved institutions. The scholarship will be awarded for five years, based on the course recognised by the regulatory organizations.

To receive the next installment of their PM Scholarship, applicants must first renew it online. However, renewal is predicated on satisfactorily finishing the semester or academic year with at least 50% marks. It is critical to remember that all subjects must be passed in a single try. Any backlogs or "no clear" markings on the mark sheet will prohibit candidates from renewing their PM Scholarship.

PM Scholarship 2024: Rewards

  • The Government of India (GOI) has made significant adjustments to the PM scholarship, increasing the scholarship reward sum for girls from Rs.2,250 to Rs.3,000 per month and for boys from Rs.2,000 to Rs.2,500 per month. Additionally, 500 new PM scholarships will be awarded to the children of State Police officers who were killed in terror or Naxal acts.
  • Narendra Modi is presenting a 25000 Rs scholarship to those who have completed their 10th or 12th grade. The PM Scholarship Scheme for 12th-grade students is Rs. 25000.
  • The amount that a candidate will earn under the Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme, as well as the number of years for which the PM scholarships will be awarded, are important factors that a candidate should be aware of.
  • This scheme benefits 5500 eligible candidates each year. And these scholarships are divided equally to boys and girls, with 2750 each.
  • Furthermore, the PM scholarship is worth Rs.3000 per month for ladies and Rs.2500 per month for boys each year.
  • Furthermore, the period of the PM scholarship might range from one to five years, depending on your academic schedule.

PM Scholarship For Integrated Courses

  • The minimum educational qualification (MEQ) will be 10 + 2. However, when applying, students must send 10+2 mark sheets for both the first and second years (both semesters), when the first course is non-professional.

Integrated Courses (dual degree) are classified into two categories, as follows:

  1. Integrated courses (dual degrees) that combine professional and technical studies, such as BE+ME, B.Tech+M.Tech, BBA+MBA, and so on. In such instances, only the first professional degree will be awarded a scholarship.
  2. Integrated courses (dual degrees) with a first degree as academic (non-professional) and a second degree as professional/technical, such as BA + LLB, B.Com + LLB, and B.Sc. + B.Ed. In such circumstances, students will only be compensated for the professional portion of the course, not the non-professional/academic portion.
  • A student studying Integrated courses in which one degree is professional and the other is non-professional will be offered a scholarship for only the professional element of the dual degree course, not the academic portion:
  1. For example, in a BA+LLB (dual degree course), the first degree is BA (non-professional) and the second is LLB (professional). As a result, scholarships will only be offered for the professional element (i.e., LLB).
  • When the 1st degree is non-professional and the second degree is professional, the student must have completed his prior two years of non-professional courses without fail before applying for the PM scholarship beginning in the third year. Students who repeat, RA, or fail will be ineligible to apply for scholarships. A student must complete all first and second year topics on the first attempt and within the time frame specified from the date of admission; otherwise, he or she will not be considered for scholarship awards and his or her application will be denied.
