PGT stands for postgraduate teacher. Postgraduate teachers teach classes up to 12 standards, the teaching profession in schools is classified into three categories.
PRT: Primary Teachers for classes 1 to 5
TGT: Trained Graduate Teachers for classes 6 to 10

Eligibility of PGT :
The eligibility criteria differ for various schools, states, and conducting bodies. However, the PGT EXAM Eligibility Criteria is a common criterion for PGT Post.
The candidate appearing for the exam must be an Indian citizen.
Candidates must hold original documents.
Age Limit of PGT:
The age limit for the PGT exams is usually between 21 to 40 years.
Candidates belonging to minority groups ( SC/ST) are given a relaxation of 5 5-year upper age limit.
Candidates belonging to the OBC category are given a relaxation of 3 3-year upper age limit.
Qualification of PGT:
A candidate must acquire 60% and above in a 10+2 examination from a recognized board, if you didn’t clear any exam you are not eligible to sit in PGTs exam.
A candidate needs to have at least a GPA of 50% in their diploma.
A candidate needs to have a postgraduate degree with a minimum percentage of 50% from a recognized university/ college.
Salary of PGT:
The average salary of a postgraduate teacher in India is from 80,000 to 1.5L including additional allowances like house rent, transportation allowance, and medical facilities.

Exam for PGTs
- The candidate must have a master’s degree in the respective subject from a recognized university.
- The candidate must have a B.Ed / M.Ed degree from a recognized institution.
- The examination consists of 200 marks.
- The candidates must refer to the previous year’s question papers (PYQ) and DSSSB PRT, TGT, and PGT question papers.
