Paramedical Courses 2024 Overview

Nursing, physiotherapy, radiology, and nutrition are some of the services covered in paramedical courses that support medical staff without direct supervision from a doctor. Paramedics are popular MBBS substitutes after the 12th grade. These courses are career-focused and provide numerous employment opportunities. The admission requirements for such medical courses after 12th grade that do not require the NEET vary depending on the type of paramedical course and college chosen. Certificate courses can last anywhere from six months to a year, whereas diplomas typically take one or two years to complete. The scope, employability, pay, and job satisfaction of the paramedical programs are superior, and there are more opportunities for growth and international exposure. The DMLT Course, Master of Optometry, BSc Nursing, and BPT are among the most popular paramedical courses.

What are Paramedical Courses?

Paramedics, also known as "allied health forces," provide technical assistance to doctors and are career-focused health care courses that include field-specific courses to prepare students to work in specific areas. Healthcare areas include hospitals, home health care, medical and diagnostic laboratories, nursing and residential care facilities, dentist's offices, physician's offices, ambulatory services, urgent care centers, clinics, pharmaceutical health insurance, and so on.

Fees for paramedical courses at government colleges (AIIMS, Patna Medical College, and PGIMER). The cost of paramedical courses at private colleges (Amrita College, HIMSR, SIHS) ranges between INR 2.5 and 3 lakhs. They are distinct from MBBS in that they concentrate on helping medical health services.

The admission process for each paramedical course after 12th differs; some are based on class 12 merit (provided they have obtained 50 percent marks in biology, physics, and chemistry as core subjects), while others hold entrance exams. Paramedics with 1–4 years of experience earn an annual salary of INR 270,000. Nurses, pharmacists, physicians, physiotherapists, technicians, and occupational therapists are the highest-paying paramedical courses, with annual salaries ranging from INR 3,00,096 to INR 4,09,349 per year. People with paramedical degrees can now obtain employment in the government.

  3. It is a profitable alternative since professional growth and opportunities are plentiful and diverse.
  4. There's no need to study longer than in other courses as you can find work nearby.
  5. It is less costly.
  6. Courses in paramedicine are also useful in everyday life and in society.
  7. You can start your own business by, for example, starting a medical lab or clinic lab.
  8. It is quite simple to acquire admission to a neighboring institute due to the minimal competition.

Paramedic Role

The word paramedic refers to professionals who act as physicians' extenders. The word para means "by the side of," while medic means "physician." A paramedic acts as a physician's assistant, who orders and supervises the operations and drugs delivered by the paramedic. Paramedics may inspect, assess, and treat patients using technology and drugs often found exclusively in a hospital's emergency room. They are primarily used as emergency care practitioners aboard ambulances or first-responder vehicles.

Experienced paramedics can find more specialized work in sectors such as cruise ship medical departments, offshore oil drilling platforms, helicopter or fixed-wing medical transport, and hyperbaric oxygen chambers. Paramedics are in high demand all around the United States. (From the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics). Several Indian organizations have taken the lead in this sector, and many competent and qualified experts work in it. During a pandemic, the value of paramedics grows since medicine is one of the most significant components in getting out of the maze. The field is fast-paced and demanding, yet it is just as rewarding as the industry.

Paramedical services are those in which specialists assist doctors in specialized areas and facilities in order to improve diagnosis, treatment, and therapy. The growing need for qualified para-medical personnel has created several job prospects for new hopefuls both in India and overseas. Without paramedics, the whole healthcare business would grind to a halt and become nearly non-functional. Students that study Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) at the + 2 levels want to be doctors.

However, relatively few of them focus on the paramedical area, which includes professionals such as pharmacists, physiotherapists, nurses, medical laboratory technologists, optometrists, speech therapists, and others.

All of these professions assist the doctor in the treatment of a rising number of patients suffering from various ailments, making health care simple and effective. It is a broad subject. There are several degrees, diplomas, and certificate programs available. The paramedical courses will be thoroughly explored in three parts:
