NIT Surathkal MTech Cutoff: Check GATE CCMT Round-Wise & Year-Wise Cutoffs

NIT Surathkal MTech Cutoff: Overview

The National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal, is the first preference institution for technical learning in India. For admission in M.Tech, they admit students based on GATE marks and declare their cutoff through Centralised Counseling (CCMT).

The cutoff GATE marks play a vital role for students interested in getting themselves admitted into the institute's two-year M.Tech courses offering different specializations.

CCMT will announce the NIT Surathkal GATE 2025 cutoff on the official website, ccmt.admissions.nic.in. The cutoff will be made available as the lower and upper limits of GATE scores necessary to get admitted into NIT Surathkal. Candidates with scores within the NIT Surathkal GATE cutoff range will be eligible for admission.

NIT Surathkal 2025 GATE cutoff will be different by category and stream. Students who satisfy the eligibility criteria and hold valid GATE scores will be eligible for admission to the institution.

The NIT Surathkal GATE cutoff is distinctly reflective of a trend of increasing cutoff margins for the most sought-after programs in electrical and computer science. Other specializations besides core mechanical and civil programs are also very sought after.

Aspirants can check the discipline-wise NIT Surathkal GATE 2025 cutoff from this page.

NIT Surathkal GATE Cutoff 2024

NIT Surathkal CCMT cutoff 2024 has been released with the announcement of the final round of seat allotment results. The cutoff was announced for M.E./M.Tech course admission over various specialisations. Under the first round, the cutoff marks for admission to M.E./M.Tech were closed between 351 and 742, for the candidates of the General AI category. On the contrary, under the final round, the cutoff marks of the same course had varied between 351 and 675.

Amongst all the specialisations, M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering had the maximum cutoff score of 675 in the last round. This shows maximum competition for this specialisation amongst the engineering students in the general AI quota. The first round cutoff of the same was 742. The students can see the GATE CCMT minimum and maximum GATE Scores and last-round cutoff scores for all the courses from the table given below:

NIT Surathkal MTech Admission

National Institutes of Technology (NITs) are some of the most prestigious engineering colleges in India. They provide postgraduate courses in a vast array of engineering fields. Next to the IITs, NITs are the second-best choice for GATE qualifiers. Every NIT has its GATE cutoff (branch-wise), which is determined by aspects such as institute reputation in NIRF ranking, course popularity, and local demand.

What determines GATE cutoffs for NITs?

  • The parameters that determine GATE cutoff scores in NITs for MTech programme admissions are -
  • The popularity of the branches over the years - Core branches like computer science, electrical engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, and electronics communication have seen a higher cutoff because of the high demand in job placements and PSUs.
  • Institute Ranking and Reputation: Institute ranking and reputation are also another very important considerations. The highly ranked NITs such as NIT Trichy, NIT Warangal, and NIT Surathkal, typically have more competitive cutoffs than other NITs.
  • Reservation Policies- NITs abide by the government's policies of reservation, thus different cutoffs for different categories.
  • Location of the Institute - NITs in urban centers or IT hubs may have a higher cutoff than the ones in hilly areas based on better placement opportunities and infrastructural facilities.
