MPSC Syllabus

The Maharashtra Public Service Commission has published the detailed MPSC Syllabus 2024 on its official website. The Syllabus for the MPSC exam has been released along with the MPSC exam pattern 2024. Taking from the official notification, there will be different Maharashtra PCS Syllabus 2024 for the prelims and mains examination.

MPSC Exam Pattern 2024

Along with the MPSC syllabus candidates should also check MPSC Exam Pattern 2024. The exam pattern consists of three phases starting from prelims, followed by mains and an interview, and needs successful completion of the initial phase.  Applicants who pass all three rounds of the Maharashtra PCS Exam 2024 will be kept on the final merit list.

 

MPSC Prelims Exam Pattern 2024

This phase of the examination includes two compulsory objective papers. The details of the MPSC Prelims Pattern Pattern 2024:
 

  • Each exam’s duration is 2 hours 
  • Incorrect answers will lead to a deduction of one-fourth of the allotted marks for a specific question.
  • Questions related to decision-making will not be marked negative for incorrect answers.
  • All questions will be available in English and Marathi, except those drafted to access the candidate’s expertise in English.

The MPSC Prelims Syllabus 2024 covers topics for both exams, following a format for MPSC. So that candidates can easily prepare for both papers. The details are mentioned below:

Current state, national, and international events.

 

Comprehension

 

History of India (specifically Maharashtra) and Indian National Movement.

 

Interpersonal skills, including communication skills

 

Maharashtra, India, and world geography – Physical, Social, and Economic geography of Maharashtra, India, and the World.

 

Logical reasoning and analytical ability

 

Maharashtra and India – Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Urban Governance, Public Policy, Rights Issue, etc.

 

Decisionmaking and problem solving

 

Economic and Social Development – Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.

 

General mental ability

 

General issues on Environmental Ecology, Biodiversity, and Climate Change do not require subject specialisation.

Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data Interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency, etc. – Class X level)

 

General Science

Marathi and English language comprehension skills (Class X/XII level) Questions relating to this will be tested through passages from Marathi and English language without providing cross translation thereof in the question paper.

 

 MPSC Main Exam Pattern 2024 


The MPSC has announced the MPSC Main exam pattern 2024. Candidates must remember that while applying online for the Main test. Candidates need to choose a suitable language for answering questions. The question paper will be in Maharti and English, except for language papers, Marathi language, and subjects specified in the English language. Some changes have been made in the exam pattern by the commission. The details are mentioned below:

MPSC Interview 2024


After clearing the MPSC mains 2024 exam, selected candidates progress to the interview stage, the final phase of the MPSC selection process 2024. During the interview round, a panel evaluates the candidate’s relevance for a career in the Rajyaseava based on personal attributes also their academic performance. Candidates should be updated about current affairs, both regional and global. The interview first evaluates the candidate’s mental awareness and analytical process.
