Named after Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, a prominent freedom fighter and the first Education Minister of independent India, this scholarship program helps students pursue their education without any financial constraints. The Maulana Azad Scholarship is available for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses and is administered by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India.
Maulana Azad National Fellowship
Scheme Details
Objective: The objective of the Maulana Azad Fellowship Scheme (MANF) is to provide five year fellowships in the form of financial assistance to students from six notified minority communities viz. Buddhist, Christian, Jain, Muslim, Parsi and Sikh, notified by the Central Government, to pursue M. Phil and Ph.D.
- The scheme covers all Universities/Institutions recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) as under :
- Central/State Universities (including constituent and affiliated institutions) included under Section 2(f) of UGC Act, 1956 and having valid accreditation from NAAC.
- Deemed Universities under Section 3 of UGC Act i.e. Institution for higher education notified by Central Government to be deemed University, in consultation with UGC and having valid accreditation from NAAC.
- Institution fully funded by State / Central Government and empowered to award degrees.
- Institutions of National Importance as notified by Ministry of Human Resource Development (mhrd.gov.in/institutions-national-importance).
Maulana Azad Scholarship 2024 Eligibility Criteria
- Students must be a permanent resident of India.
- Students should belong to minority communities such as: Muslims, Christians, Parsis, Sikhs, Buddhists, and Jains.
- Applicants who enroll under class 9th to 12th standard will be eligible for the scholarship.
- Students must score 50% or above marks in their academics.
- The applicant must be enrolled full-time in a regular M.Phil. or PhD program at a university or other academic institution.
- The scholarship will provide scholarships to the students of class 9th to 12th who belong to minority communities and have a family income of less than Rs. 2,50,000 lakh per annum.
- Transgender communities are also eligible for this scholarship.
Maulana Azad Scholarship 2024
This is a very popular scheme and it is sanctioned by year by year. Till now 5,89,838 girl students have been assisted with INR 504.16 crore by the foundation since its inception. The scheme will be admissible for expenditure on payment of School/ college fees, purchase of stationery/ equipment required for the course, and payment of boarding/ lodging charges.
Maulana Azad Scholarship Application Form 2024
The scholarship will be implemented through the official portal of the Maulana Azad Education Foundation. It is mandatory for all the students to apply online by downloading a form www.maef.nic.in and filling the form offline and posting the same with all the documents to the MAEF office in a given time period.
How To Apply
- Applicants applying for the first time have to register themselves on the MAEF Scholarship portal by clicking “Student Registration Form”
- While filling the registration form, the candidates are every mandatory detail.
- Then submit the registration form.
- After submitting the form, students are given a link to download the school verification form that needs to be checked by the school principal and uploaded while completing the scholarship.
- Applicants needed to log in with their registration details.
- Fill in the application details and upload the documents and submit the application.
