One of the most popular exam based on the total number of applicants every year is Joint Entrance Examination also known as JEE without a second thought. The all India entrance examination give an opportunity to thousands of students pursue engineering for an undergraduate degree from some of the top engineering colleges of the country including Indian Institutes of Technology, National Institutes of Technology, Indian Institutes of Information Technology and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutes.

JEE Main is the first stage of the examination which also serve as a filter for straining out the top scorers of the examination to move forward for the next stage. Candidates qualifying the JEE Main will be eligible for admissions in National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) of the country. From the year 2019, the exam is being conducted by National Testing Agency and will allow students to appear twice in a year for the examination. Every year around 1.2 million to 1.5 million candidates apply for the exam.

JEE Advanced is the next and final stage of the examination which ensure admission of a candidate into the 20 IITs of the country. Aspirants with marks scored equal to or greater than the decided JEE Main Cutoff are eligible to sit for the examination. In the year 2017 a total of 2, 20,000 candidates attempted JEE Advanced, which increased in the year 2018 to 2, 24,000.

Below are some interesting facts about upcoming JEE Advanced 2019:

Organizing Institute of the Exam: JEE Advanced 2019 is being conducted this year by IIT Roorkee.

Examination Type and Category: JEE Advanced is a national level entrance examination for admission in Undergraduate Engineering Courses.

Examination Mode: The exam is being conducted online through a computer-based test module.

Total number of applicants: As per the latest data released by the conducting authority, it is expected that a total of 2, 24, 000 candidates will appear for the examination to be conducted in May 2019.

Number of Papers: JEE Advanced Exam comprised of two papers divided as Paper 1 and Paper 2 with no particular pattern. Both the papers will carry questions from primary subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The questions can be multiple answer type, passage-based, single answer based questions or questions of integer type.

Language of Exam: There are a large number of students who wish to take the examination in the Hindi language, considering that the question paper will be available in both Hindi and English languages for the convenience of the students and they can opt for the preferred language.

Number of Attempts: The total number of attempt for JEE Advanced is restricted to two. Any candidate can only take the examination twice in two consecutive years.

Absence in any paper: Candidate who will not be able to appear for any of the paper will be considered as absent for both the papers and result of such candidates will not be produced.

JEE Advanced for Foreign Students: Candidates irrespective of their nationality are eligible to apply for the examination if the fulfill the mentioned eligibility criteria of the exam.

Reservation for candidates of Defense Background:  A special reservation category is available for the candidates belonging to defense category who either lost their parent or have parents with permanent disability happened during the war while serving for defense or paramilitary. It is important to note that all the defense personnel doesn't belong to this category.

Minimum educational qualification: Qualifying JEE Main is not enough to apply for JEE Advanced. Aspirants should have scored a minimum of 75% in 10+2 if applying through the general category. For candidates applying through reserved category, the required minimum percentage is 70%.

Age limitation: Candidates applying for the examination should not be born after October 1, 1994, if belonging to the GEN or OBC-NCL category and on or after October 1, 1989, if belonging to the reserved category (SC, ST or PwD).

More than 1,101 engineering colleges in India accept JEE Main Score. Some of these colleges as per government orders created supernumerary seats for girls. The additional seats added under the scheme allow more girl enrolments in the colleges without affecting or decreasing the seats available for male candidates belonging to general category.
