What is KVPY?

Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is a scholarship initiative supported by the Government of India's Department of Science and Technology. Its primary objective is to promote research-oriented careers in the fundamental sciences among students. Through this program, eligible students are awarded scholarships and contingency grants until the pre-Ph.D. stage.

KVPY Syllabus

KVPY syllabus consists primarily of topics from science subjects taught in Class 11 and 12, such as physics, chemistry, math, and biology. The governing body for the exam, IISc, does not officially set or release the KVPY syllabus. Students should also keep in mind that this examination is designed to assess candidates' analytical abilities and comprehension rather than their factual knowledge of the topics covered in the various subjects.

KVPY SA Syllabus

The KVPY SA syllabus incorporates topics and chapters from both Class X and Class XII, encompassing subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics. These four subjects form the core focus of the SA stream. The syllabus outlines the essential topics within each subject. Please find the list below, including the significant topics for each subject

Frequently Asked Questions

Is KVPY very difficult?

When it comes to difficulty, the KVPY exam is on par with the IIT Entrance.

Which is tougher JEE or KVPY?

KVPY exam selection rate is only 1.8%, and the exam pattern is relatively tougher than JEE mains and potentially just as tough as JEE Advanced. The National Testing Agency (NTA) publishes the JEE Main Syllabus.

Can I skip maths in KVPY?

That is, a candidate may skip any one of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Biology. However, if you are currently in 11th grade, you will be unable to write KVPY if you do not have mathematics as a subject.

How to crack KVPY in first attempt?

Candidates must read NCERT books for classes 10, 11, and 12, as well as prescribed books for the first year of UG (if applicable), which contain in-depth knowledge and cover all relevant topics.

What is the minimum class for KVPY?

According to the KVPY eligibility criteria 2023, candidates must have a minimum of 75% in class 10, while SC/ST/PwD candidates must have a total of 65% in all Science subjects and Mathematics.
